What role you will play in the team

Currently, we have an opportunity for an experienced Industrial Control Systems Engineer, and are looking for a passionate individual who enjoys working in a collaborative, diverse and challenging environment to join our team, who advances the competitiveness of ExxonMobil industrial operations globally by deploying innovative technologies that enable highly reliable and secure infrastructure, control systems and value generating applications. This role is based in Menara ExxonMobil, Kuala Lumpur.

What you will do

If successful, you will take on a leading role for designated applications/platforms/technologies, providing global engineering support in the evaluation, design, qualification and integration into ExxonMobil’s Industrial Control Systems (“ICS”) environment, as well as lifecycle management. You will be working with diverse teams, sites and vendors to impact change on a global scale. Key deliverables include:

  • Design, integrate and perform testing for designated applications/platforms/technologies to be used in ExxonMobil’s ICS environment at sites around the world:

o Examples of platforms/technologies include: Microsoft Windows Server and Active Directory (e.g. Group Policy, Domain Security, DNS), Virtualization (VMWare, Veeam), Windows Updates (WSUS), Antivirus (Symantec Endpoint Protection, SentinelOne), Database (MS SQL, PostgreSQL), Networking (Cisco), OPC

o Examples of process control applications include: Honeywell Process Historian (PHD), Alarm Management, Operator Training Simulator (DynSim, UniSim), Dynamic Matrix Control (DMC), Real-Time Optimization (RTO), Ignition platform

  • Develop comprehensive procedures and guidance to standardize deployment, patching and migration
  • Provide elevated technical support and troubleshooting to sites
  • Close collaboration with business functions (e.g. enterprise IT) and external vendors to influence product releases, desired changes or change in architecture
  • Contribute / develop global roadmap to manage lifecycle and synergy across fleet of installed products at sites
  • Evaluate and propose new and alternate product releases; participate in research and development for new technologies
  • Meet ExxonMobil ICS requirements for safe, reliable and secure operations
  • Provide critical communication and information sharing to sites and be an active part of the global community of Control Systems Engineers

About you

Skills and Qualifications

To be eligible for this role, you must have or be able to demonstrate the following:

  • Bachelor’s or higher degree in Engineering / Computer Science / Information Technology
  • Experience supporting Industrial Control Systems and/or automation projects in the petrochemical, manufacturing or similar industry
  • Understanding of ICS architecture and environment including operational aspects such as reliability, redundancy, high availability, remote support, business continuity and disaster recovery
  • Experience / hands-on with Virtualization, Windows Servers and Active Directory, Database administration, OPC, Ethernet networking
  • Skills in scripting or compiled programming languages to develop tools, automation or solutions (e.g. PowerShell, VB.Net)
  • Knowledge of Cybersecurity concepts for Industrial Control Systems
  • Experience with software configuration, integration, testing and technical documentation
  • Behavioral traits:

Preference will be given to those with the following additional skills / abilities:

  • Experience supporting DCS (e.g. Honeywell Experion) / PLC, including data interfaces with applications.
