Job summary

Tencent's Interactive Entertainment Group (IEG) in Malaysia is seeking an experienced Unreal Engine developer to build next-generation gameplay and AI features. You will work on UE4/UE5, write clean C++ and Blueprint code, and collaborate with designers, artists, and engineers to translate requirements into production-ready systems.

Qualifications

• 3+ years Unreal Engine development experience, hands-on UE4/UE5 gameplay development.
• Strong proficiency in C++ and/or Blueprints.
• Solid experience with UE5 Gameplay Framework (Actors, Components, GameMode, GameState, PlayerController, AIController).
• Hands-on experience with AI Behavior Trees and Blackboards.
• Familiar with Navigation, AI Perception, and EQS.
• Experience with AI debugging and profiling tools such as Behavior Tree Debugger and Visual Logger.
• Familiar with Git/Perforce and standard game development workflows.

• UE5 Gameplay Development: Develop and implement gameplay features and systems using Unreal Engine 5, translating requirements into production-ready features.
• AI & Behavior Tree Development: Design and iterate AI behaviors using Behavior Trees, Blackboards, and Unreal Engine AI frameworks, including AI Controller and Perception.
• Cross-Functional Collaboration & Integration: Work with design, art, and engineering teams to integrate gameplay and AI features into the main project pipeline and provide technical support as needed.

Business Unit Introduction - Interactive Entertainment Group (IEG)

Responsible for the R&D, operation, and development of the company's interactive entertainment business including games and eSports. Through online gaming, live broadcasts, and offline eSports, IEG assists the company in leading the global interactive entertainment market to create better interactive entertainment content experiences for users.

Job Responsibilities

1. UE5 Gameplay Development

• Develop and implement gameplay features and systems using Unreal Engine 5.
• Work closely with game designers to translate gameplay requirements into production-ready features.
• Write clean, maintainable C++ and/or Blueprint code with a strong focus on performance, stability, and scalability.

2. AI & Behavior Tree Development

• Design, develop, and iterate AI behaviors using Behavior Trees, Blackboards, and Unreal Engine AI frameworks.
• Work with AI Controller, Navigation, AI Perception, and EQS where required.
• Debug and optimize AI decision-making logic to ensure stable and consistent behavior across different gameplay scenarios and edge cases.

3. Cross-Functional Collaboration & Integration

• Collaborate with design, art, and engineering teams to integrate gameplay and AI features into the main project pipeline.
• Provide technical support and document implementation details when required.
• Support testing, profiling, debugging, and performance optimization to ensure high-quality releases.

Job Requirements
