Job summary

A recruitment agency is seeking an experienced HVAC Lead Engineer to oversee the design and execution of HVAC systems for offshore platforms in Kuala Lumpur. The ideal candidate will have over 15 years of experience in HVAC design, including 8+ years in the offshore oil and gas sector. This role requires strong technical knowledge, leadership in project execution, and excellent communication skills.

Qualifications

• Minimum 15 years' HVAC design experience, with 8+ years in offshore oil and gas.
• Proficient with HVAC load calculations and simulation software.
• Familiar with HVAC control systems and integration with DCS/ESD systems.

HVAC Lead Engineer - Offshore Platforms

Location: Kuala Lumpur / Site (as required)

Employment Type: 2-Year Contract

Overview

Leads the design and execution of HVAC systems for offshore facilities, ensuring compliance with project specifications, offshore standards, and environmental requirements.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead HVAC engineering for living quarters, technical buildings, and process modules
• Develop design basis, system philosophies, and detailed specifications
• Review design calculations, equipment data sheets, and vendor documents
• Coordinate interfaces with other disciplines (Electrical, Structural, Instrumentation)
• Ensure compliance with ASHRAE, ISO, API, DNV, NORSOK, and offshore standards
• Support constructability, installation, and commissioning reviews
• Mentor junior engineers and promote knowledge sharing

Qualifications & Experience

• Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent
• Minimum 15 years' HVAC design experience, with 8+ years in offshore oil and gas
• Strong knowledge of offshore HVAC principles including pressurisation, explosion protection, and noise control
• Proficiency with HVAC load calculations and simulation software (HAP, Elite, etc.)
• Familiarity with HVAC control systems and integration with DCS/ESD systems
• Excellent communication and coordination skills
