The HR Assistant Manager (Generalist) supports the full spectrum of HR operations within the education sector, including recruitment, employee relations, performance management, training, HR compliance, and policy implementation. This role acts as a bridge between management and staff, ensuring HR processes run smoothly while supporting institutional goals and maintaining a positive work environment.

Job Purpose

The HR Assistant Manager (Generalist) supports the full spectrum of HR operations within the education sector, including recruitment, employee relations, performance management, training, HR compliance, and policy implementation. This role acts as a bridge between management and staff, ensuring HR processes run smoothly while supporting institutional goals and maintaining a positive work environment.

Key Responsibilities
1. Recruitment & Onboarding
  • Assist in end-to-end recruitment for academic and non-academic positions.

  • Coordinate job postings, interviews, and candidate communications.

  • Manage onboarding and induction programs to ensure smooth integration of new hires.

2. Employee Relations
  • Act as a point of contact for employee concerns and grievances.

  • Promote a positive workplace culture through staff engagement initiatives.

  • Support disciplinary and grievance processes in compliance with labour laws and internal policies.

3. Performance Management
  • Coordinate the performance appraisal cycle, including tracking, reminders, and documentation.

  • Support departments in setting performance KPIs and development plans.

  • Monitor performance issues and assist in improvement plans or interventions.

4. Training & Development
  • Identify staff training needs in collaboration with department heads.

  • Coordinate internal and external training sessions, workshops, and CPD programs.

  • Maintain training records and evaluate training effectiveness.

5. HR Policy & Compliance
  • Maintain and ensure compliance with HR policies and relevant labour regulations.

  • Assist in reviewing and updating HR policies and SOPs when necessary.

  • Support adherence to statutory requirements (EPF, SOCSO, EIS, etc.).

6. HR Operations & Reporting
  • Maintain employee records and HRIS updates.

  • Generate HR reports related to turnover, absenteeism, leave, and manpower.

  • Support payroll inputs, staff movements, and contract management.

Requirements

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resource Management, Business Administration, Psychology, or a related field.

Experience:

  • 3–5 years of HR generalist experience, preferably in the education sector or a similar regulated environment.

Skills and Competencies:

  • Strong understanding of Malaysian labour law and HR best practices.

  • Good interpersonal and communication skills.

  • High attention to detail and organizational skills.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and HR systems.

  • Ability to manage confidential information with integrity.
