Overview

We are seeking an inspirational and highly motivated teacher to join our thriving Humanities department. All students study our bespoke curriculum for Geography and History at KS3 and may choose to study either or both at IGCSE and A level following the CIE curriculum. The successful candidate will be passionate about teaching and learning and be able to teach History. He/she will be expected to make good use of technology and other innovative resources in teaching and to convey a real enthusiasm for the subject.

Key Duties
  • Teaching and Learning
  • Plan and prepare lessons
  • Teach according to educational need, setting high expectations for all
  • Set and mark students’ work, including examinations
  • Assess, record and report on development, progress and attainment
  • Provide feedback to students to support progress
  • Adapt lesson planning based on feedback from students and their work
  • Reporting and Assessing
  • Provide regular reports and grades for students in line with the School’s cycle
  • Identify and raise concerns for students
  • Attend parent-teacher meetings and provide oral reports to parents
  • Provide references for students, as requested
  • Assess and report on prospective students, as requested
  • Prepare examinations and tests for students, including common examinations
  • Other Duties
  • Take class register as required and alert a senior member of staff if concerned about a student’s whereabouts
  • Ensure the classroom is presented as a vibrant and positive space for learning
  • Promote the wellbeing of individual students and all assigned classes
  • Act on concerns about students’ wellbeing and involve the safeguarding team as needed
  • Communicate with parents and accompany students on school visits and trips
  • Supervise students and student activities as required
  • Lead two extra-curricular activities weekly
  • Support marketing of the School to prospective students and parents
  • Cover lessons for absent teachers as required
  • Professional Development
  • Continue to develop professional skills through CPD and reading
  • Participate in the School’s focused development programme and performance management annually
  • Engage in CPD initiatives run by the School (e.g., observation fortnight)
Qualifications / Experience
