We are currently hiring for the position of Naval Architect in India.

Company Profile:

Our client is a leading global provider of floating offshore solutions, specializing in the design, engineering, development, and operation of FPSOs, FSRUs, and FLNGs.

Position Details:

  • Designation: Naval Architect (JIS109272)
  • Location: India
  • Experience Range: 10-12 years
  • Salary Range: 50.00 to 67.00 (currency not specified)

Job Profile:

Provide naval architectural support and expertise for projects, including bids, proposals, and FEED stages, ensuring project performance targets are met safely, environmentally sound, and aligned with client requirements.

Note: The job location is Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, with a salary budget of RM 28,000 per month.

Responsibilities:

  • Report to the Line Manager on project and personal achievements, as well as corporate and section matters.
  • Report to the Project Lead Naval Architect or Engineering Manager/Project Engineer on project progress, setbacks, and concerns.
  • Coordinate with the construction team on naval-related issues.
  • Carry out calculations, prepare designs and layouts as per project requirements.
  • Prepare and review naval design documents and drawings.
  • Prepare Scope of Work (SOW) and evaluate third-party consultants.
  • Coordinate with third-party consultants and participate in interdisciplinary meetings during FEED and project execution.

Key Responsibility Areas:

  • Naval Layouts: General Arrangement (GA) for hull and machinery space, tank capacity plan, accommodation, and helideck layout.
  • Calculations: Stability and damage stability reports, ullage and sounding tables, tonnage calculations, preliminary structural calculations, review of detailed design documents.
  • Packages: Prepare technical specifications for naval packages, evaluate technical bids, and liaise with vendors.
  • Management: Support the Head of Naval in preparing engineering scope of work for third parties.
  • Interface: Coordinate with other disciplines during project proposal and execution, and with shipyard construction teams. Prepare weight control reports.
  • Inspection: Conduct tanker inspections for suitability for conversion and prepare inspection reports.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Graduate Engineer in Naval Architecture & Structural Engineering.
  • Minimum 12 years of experience in the oil and gas industry as a Naval Architect.
  • Experience working on 2-3 FPSO projects covering all phases (FEED, detailed engineering, fabrication, sailaway, and hookup).
  • Experience with Petrobras major projects, especially VLCC or larger, deep water, large FPSOs with over 100,000 BOPD processing capacity.
  • Knowledge of Petrobras GTD requirements and Brazil regulatory standards.
  • Strong knowledge of stability, hull structural strength calculations, weight management, and reporting.

Technical Skills:

  • Degree in Naval Architecture.
  • Proficiency in stability software GHS.
  • Knowledge of FEM analysis software and motion analysis tools.
  • Understanding of classification rules and IMO regulations.

Behavioral Skills:

  • Team player with respectful attitude.
  • Good communication and interfacing skills across disciplines.
  • Strong project engineering focus, ability to work under stress, meet deadlines, and possess commercial awareness.
