Job summary

KPJ Healthcare Berhad is seeking nursing staff to provide care aligned with the hospital's mission and goals. The role involves ward management, patient comfort, accurate reporting, and coordination of tests and procedures.

You will participate in rounds, assist with beds and linens, maintain clean ward facilities, and support the care team in transport and specimen handling. This position offers opportunities to contribute to quality care across multiple departments.

Responsibilities

• Provide nursing care aligned with the hospital's vision and nursing services philosophy.
• Notify nursing leaders of situations impacting quality of care.
• Obtain ward report and assignment at the beginning of each shift.
• Conduct regular nursing rounds and communicate with patients and their families.
• Prepare and tidy beds and linens for patient arrival and ongoing care.
• Disinfect beds, medical equipment, chairs, and tables after use.
• Maintain ward area, store, and facilities clean and orderly.
• Assist patients with filling hot water flasks and other basic needs.
• Answer calls and relay messages; attend to patients' needs promptly.
• Transport patients to and from the operating theatre and to other services for tests.
• Escort patients for diagnostics and discharge as needed.
• Dispatch specimens to the laboratory and obtain results.
• Collect pharmacy and surgical supplies to maintain stock levels.
• Inform maintenance for portable oxygen tanks and ensure continuous supply.
• Assist trained staff with procedures and patient care tasks.
• Record daily ward charges and update charge tickets.
• Maintain intake and output charts for each patient.
• Lift, turn, and reposition patients with proper body mechanics.
• Accompany consultants during procedures and rounds when nurses are absent.
• Attend meetings held by the service.

Job description

ORGANIZATION AND MANAGEMENT

1. Provide nursing care that aligns with the vision, mission, philosophy, goals, and objectives of the nursing services and the hospital.
2. Notify the nursing leaders of any situations that impact the quality of care.
3. Obtain ward report and assignment at the beginning of each shift.
4. Perform Daily routine:
   • Conducts regular nursing rounds to assess patients’ needs and communicate with them and their families.
   • Prepares and tidies beds before arrival of patient’s and linens, and as needed.
   • Organizes patients’ belongings and furniture during round.
   • Keeps the patients feeling comfortable and cheerful by giving them blankets if they are cold, positioning them.
   • Disinfects beds, medical equipment, chairs and cardiac tables after used.

   • Assist the patient with filling the hot water flask if needed.

   • Collect pharmacy and surgical supplies from pharmacy and the store as required to maintain adequate stock levels for operations.
   • Inform maintenance request for portable oxygen tanks for refilling or exchange, ensuring a continuous supply for emergency needs.
5. Assists the trained staff in various aspects:
   • Carried out of nursing care, such as patient comfort, safety, nutrition, hygiene, admission, transfer, discharge, dressing, intravenous lines, removal of cannula, catheterization, etc.
   • Cleans and disinfects the trolley and instruments after use and stores them properly.
   • Records the daily charges for the items used in the ward and update in charge tickets.
   • Maintains the record of intake and output chart for each patient.
   • Lifts, turns, and positions patients safely and comfortably using the correct body mechanics.
   • Accompanies the consultant in performing procedures and rounds in the absence of trained nurses
6. Attend meetings held by the service.
