The Position

Health & Safety Enabler - Driver Safety Programs

A healthier future. It’s what drives us to innovate. To continuously advance science and ensure everyone has access to the healthcare they need today and for generations to come. Creating a world where we all have more time with the people we love.

That’s what makes us Roche.

As a member of the Group SHE team, you will lead the implementation of global programs to deliver our SHE strategy, long term outcomes and priorities. Group SHE is the corporate department for Health, Safety, Security and Environment. Our vision for SHE@Roche is to enable our people to deliver patient outcomes at no cost to the planet. As a Group SHE Enabler you solve highly complex problems and provide deep subject matter expertise on technical SHE topics globally including expert guidance and support to business areas, colleagues and management.

As Health & Safety Enabler, you are responsible for developing and advancing Roche’s global driver safety program. You will act as an individual contributor, focusing on ensuring driver safety throughout the organization and implementing innovative solutions to enhance safety practices and compliance. You will contribute to strategic planning and execution and will collaborate with various teams across the organization, including Safety, Security, Health & Environment (SHE) departments at sites and divisions.

Enablers work with a high degree of empowerment and ownership. Ongoing personal and professional development as well as continuous learning is critical to success. This position reports to the Chapter Lead for People.

The Opportunity

  • Be accountable for leading strategic initiatives focused on driver safety, while also supporting broader safety, health and wellbeing, compliance, and sustainability objectives. This includes setting clear goals, designing relevant key performance indicators (KPIs), and ensuring high-quality data to enable data-driven decision-making in relation to driver safety. By leveraging digital insights and technology, develop and implement innovative, integrated safety solutions tailored to the organization’s evolving needs.

  • Conduct regular assessments, audits, and reviews to ensure compliance with driver safety regulations and best practices. Deliver briefings and provide actionable insights to stakeholders at various organizational levels. Additionally, focus on building both technical and non-technical capabilities that support the delivery of cutting-edge driver safety programs, with special attention to the unique challenges faced by remote and field-based workers.

  • Bring deep expertise in health and safety incident investigations, leveraging extensive professional experience and strong analytical skills. Work independently with minimal supervision, taking full ownership of investigations and demonstrating sound decision-making capabilities. This autonomy supports thorough and effective incident analysis, contributing to continuous improvement in safety and occupational health outcomes.

  • Lead or contribute to key projects and squads focused on health, safety, and wellbeing, offering strategic guidance to ensure successful execution. Actively collaborate with global counterparts, promoting the exchange of best practices and aligning cross-border initiatives to support a cohesive and high-performing safety culture across the organization.

  • Work closely with business units to develop strategic approaches and establish best practices and guardrails that align with operational goals. Build capabilities across the organization through knowledge sharing, innovation, and talent development, ensuring long-term sustainability in safety, health and wellbeing practices.

  • Coach and influence a wide range of stakeholders—including business leaders, SHE (Safety, Health, and Environment) community members, and external partners—to foster shared ownership and accountability. Drive collaboration and engagement that lead to the effective delivery of impactful programs and outcomes.

  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of industry and cross-industry trends to ensure solutions remain innovative and relevant. Take ownership of technical guidelines and standards within the Group SHE Management System, continuously improving them in collaboration with related functions and groups.

  • Actively contribute to internal networks, whether as a Squad Lead or Member, creating an open and accountable environment. Maximize the value of Centers of Excellence and Communities of Practice by integrating business needs into program development and execution. Deliver results through strong partnerships and a commitment to shared goals.

Who you are

  • You have 5+ years of experience in a driver safety role within a large multinational corporation, with proven delivery in developing, implementing, and managing corporate road safety programs. Demonstrable experience in addressing the health, safety & wellbeing needs of remote or mobile workforces is preferred.

  • Bachelor's degree in Occupational Safety and Health, Transportation Safety, Human Factors/Ergonomics, or a related field. Equivalent experience may be considered.

  • You can inspire and motivate others, with the ability to influence through active listening and concise messaging. You are empathetic while giving clear direction across different levels of the organization. You are courageous to speak up and express your ideas. You have experience working in roles that require effective communication and influence in a matrix environment.

  • You have a growth mindset (including taking risks and experimenting, seeking new learning opportunities, asking for and giving feedback).
