Job Title : Safety Health Officer (SHO)

Location : Lumut/Parit Buntar, Perak

Industry : Construction/Manufacturing

Requirement : Green Book Holder registered with the Department of Occupational Safety and Health (DOSH).

About the Role

The Safety Health Officer (SHO) will be responsible for leading safety initiatives and ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations in the construction/manufacturing industry.

Responsibilities

  • To lead Safety and Health Committee (SHC).
  • Review existing policies and measures and update according to the legislation.
  • Identify hazards, assess the risk and implement suitable control measures to eliminate/minimize workplace hazards.
  • Advise employees on various safety-related topics and stop any unsafe acts or processes that seem dangerous or unhealthy.
  • Inspect premises and the work of personnel to identify issues or non-conformity.
  • Record and investigate incidents to determine causes and preventive measures.
  • To observe and/or maintain a diary detailing safety activity(s), hazardous works, housekeeping, safety instruction, etc., in place.
  • Prepare reports on occurrences and provide statistical information to upper management.
  • Initiate and organize OSHE training for management and employees.
  • To lead Emergency Response Team (ERT).
  • Liaise with the DOSH, Police, and other relevant government agencies regarding health, safety, and security matters affecting workers.
  • To submit a Monthly Safety Report and Safety Statistic Record for DOSH; Compile and submit NADOOPOD, JKKP 8, Monthly Safety, Health Report, Environmental Report to relevant parties involved (Internal/External).
  • Support ISO 14001 on documentation and audit.
  • Perform any other relevant tasks as assigned by the management.

Qualifications

  • Diploma / Bachelor's degree or professional certificate in Occupational Safety & Health (OSH) or Environmental Science.
  • Minimum 2 - 5 years of working experience in heavy industries safety management.
  • A Green Book Holder certified by DOSH.
  • Proficient in using Microsoft Office.
