Job Purpose
This role is primarily responsible to provide strategic leadership and advisory for shaping, strategizing, developing MDEC and digital economy vision, driving strategic planning and anticipating future trends to ensure sustainable growth and competitive advantage.
Duties And Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership & Digital Economy Roadmaps
- Lead the formulation of national digital economy strategies, blueprints, and frameworks based on data-driven insights.
- Align MDEC's strategic priorities with Malaysia's digital transformation goals (e.g., IR4.0, AI, cybersecurity).
- Oversee market intelligence and benchmarking to identify growth opportunities and risks.
Thought Leadership & Stakeholder Engagement
- Elevate MDEC's thought leadership in the digital economy via industry-relevant publications/articles/white papers/speaking engagements; and partnerships with agencies/ organisations who are shaping the global, regional, and national digital economy agenda.
- Build strategic partnerships with government agencies, industry players, and international organizations (e.g., ASEAN, WEF etc).
- Represent MDEC in policy dialogues, advisory panels, and high-level forums
Government Advisory & Policy Advocacy
- Guide and oversee MDEC's consulting & advisory support to government agencies, state governments, and other strategic partners on digital economy-related strategies in developing national frameworks, blueprints, and roadmaps.
- Lead the advocacy of policies that drive the growth of the digital economy, including policies and incentives to attract and retain digital tech investments, and encourage the adoption of emerging technologies.
Corporate Strategy & Performance Management
- Lead and drive the development of corporate strategic plans, scorecard in line with corporate priorities and national aspirations and drive corporate performance.
- Establish KPIs and performance scorecards to track progress and impact.
- Lead strategic reviews and agile adjustments to respond to economic/technological shifts.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Economics, Public Policy, Business Administration, Technology Management, from recognized tertiary level qualification in related areas / field aligned with digital industry.
- Additional certifications in digital transformation, data analytics, or strategic management (e.g., PMP) are an added advantage
- Possess 15-20+ years of experience, including at least the latest 10 years in senior management role. Extensive hands-on management experience is required, preferably in a complex, matrixed-organisation.
- Good knowledge of the digital / technology industry and understand market dynamics, competitive landscapes, and regulatory environments of the industry.
