Job description

Responsible for setting and promoting effective Shariah Compliance requirements for Shariah business to ensure it meets and exceeds Shariah principles.

Strategic
  • Lead the Shariah Compliance CoE in overseeing Shariah compliance with relevant regulatory requirements.
  • Drive and implement the vision, strategy, and compliance plan within the Group Compliance Framework.
  • Promote and advance the Shariah compliance culture across the Group’s Shariah Business.
  • Strategize and plan all activities for the Shariah Compliance CoE.
  • Foster fair, responsible, and professional conduct in the Group’s Shariah business.
  • Maintain effective relationships with regulators such as BNM, SC, Bursa Malaysia.
Operations
  • Strengthen the implementation of Shariah compliance initiatives to foster a compliance culture within Shariah businesses of the RHB Group.
  • Implement effective compliance programs for governance, advisory, and support within the Shariah Compliance CoE.
  • Report on the compliance efforts of the Group’s Shariah business and provide guidance on compliance matters.
  • Serve as a reference point for internal and external parties on Shariah compliance matters.
  • Support other compliance functions within Group Compliance on Shariah business compliance issues to achieve overall Group compliance objectives.
Talent Management
  • Manage talent development and succession planning for the Shariah Compliance CoE.
  • Monitor and facilitate regular training for employees on Shariah compliance, including policies, procedures, standards, guidelines, laws, and regulations.
  • Develop initiatives to promote professional growth among CoE staff, including certified and professional training, seminars, and advisory support.
Subject Matter Expertise
  • Provide expertise and guidance in Shariah compliance matters.
  • Partner with Circle Leads on key decisions.
  • Support best practice sharing across teams.
Coaching and Support
  • Empower teams to work iteratively and self-manage, removing obstacles as needed.
  • Work with Circle Leads to ensure team performance.
  • Prevent siloed work environments.
  • Support career and skill development of CoE members.
Resource Management
  • Conduct reviews and evaluations of CoE members.
  • Coordinate and lead training for CoE staff.
  • Manage staffing of CoE members.
Asset Ownership & Air Traffic Control
  • Ensure the health and integrity of assets impacted by multiple squads.
  • Prevent collisions and anticipate roadblocks between circles.
