An established industry player is seeking a Head of Reporting, Budget & Taxation to oversee financial reporting, budgeting, and taxation processes. This pivotal role involves managing the full set of group accounts, ensuring compliance with accounting standards, and liaising with auditors for statutory audits. Summary of responsibilities
• Review group consolidation and accounts closing of group on monthly basis for the purpose of reporting to Group Management Committee, BOD (Board of Directors) and BNM (Bank Negara Malaysia) • Responsible for the review of annual financial statements and manage external auditors for statutory audit • Manage various stakeholders on the preparation of annual budget and monitor budget utilisation on monthly basis • Prepare ad-hoc reports and presentation pack as and when requested by the management. Key Areas of Responsibilities Financial Reporting
• Manage the full set of group accounts including timely month end closing activities, ensuring accurate recording of transactions and provide timely financial information • Review the Profit & Loss and Balance Sheet for the purpose of reporting to Group Management Committee , BOD and BNM • Understand the business operations of the Group and provide support in financial analysis and operational financial performance • Review the commentaries, monthly financials trend and variance analysis for the purpose of reporting to Management • Review the movement of notes to the balance sheet account and to follow up on necessary action • Review the schedules for relevant GL (General Ledger) accounts including PPE (Property, Plant and Equipment), accrual and prepayment • Review the capitalisation of PPE based on appropriate asset categories • Manage various internal/external requests on financial numbers, which include financial data crunching, data analysis and benchmarking
Audited Financial Statement
• Ensuring the completion of yearly audited financial statement for the group (and its subsidiaries, if any) according to the stipulated timeline and current accounting standard (MFRS – Malaysian Financial Reporting Standard) • To liaise closely with external auditors during the audit period by assisting them in providing relevant information required. Budgetary
• Manage the preparation of yearly budget in accordance with the organisation business planning • Responsible in a preparation of forecast planning in accordance with the organisation direction(s) as and when requested by Management • Monitor budget utilisation and review the actual versus budget analysis and explanations for the purpose of monthly reporting • Provide support to various internal stakeholders on budget related information and analysis including budget utilisation and balance Taxation • To review details/ information for annual taxation and revised estimates for submission purposes. • To review indirect taxes submission to authority bodies • To manage tax planning Ad-Hoc Projects
• Assist on ad-hoc projects required by supervisor/manager/directors • To be aware of and uphold security responsibilities as stated in the company’s Information Security Policy. • To ensure all the information asset processing and day-to-day activities are based on the company’s Guidelines on Information Handling and Security Classification. Qualifications Minimum Qualifications
• Bachelor of Accountancy/Finance • Member of Professional Accountancy Body is preferred • Audit experience, preferably from Big Four Accounting Firms will be an added advantage • Minimum 7 years of experience in a managerial position within the finance function/role • In-depth knowledge of bookkeeping and accounting principles, practices, standards (MFRS), laws and regulations • Hands-on experience with budgeting, direct and indirect taxes and both statutory and management reporting • High attention to detail and accuracy • Ability to direct and supervise • Strong computer literacy skills – Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint • Ability to work in a fast paced and growing company • Solid analytical and decision-making skills • Strong interpersonal and business communication skills to manage stakeholders • Self-motivated, hands-on, positive, result oriented, a can-do attitude and a team player is essential
