Job description

We represent a leading provider of renewable energy solutions across Asia, specializing in developing, financing, construction, ownership, and operation of solar photovoltaic (PV) projects. Headquartered in Singapore, the company has a significant presence in multiple countries, including Vietnam, Thailand, Cambodia, and India. Their clientele comprises various industries, such as manufacturing and agriculture.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Lead and manage a small sales team to drive business development and sales activities for the company's solar-as-a-service offering in Malaysia. This role encompasses overseeing lead generation, offer generation, negotiation, and contract closing across multiple industrial and large commercial target segments. You will be responsible for the strategic direction and execution of the sales plan, ensuring team alignment and achievement of sales targets.

Team Leadership & Management:

  • Directly manage and mentor a small sales team, fostering a high-performance culture.
  • Set clear sales targets and KPIs, monitor performance, and provide regular feedback.
  • Develop and implement sales strategies and processes to optimize team efficiency.

Business Development & Sales Execution:

  • Identify, target, and contact potential customers that fit the company's criteria.
  • Engage, promote, and convince customers of the benefits of the solar-as-a-service solution.
  • Oversee the generation of offers for long-term rooftop solar PV solutions for industrial and large commercial customers.
  • Lead and participate in long-term agreement negotiations, ensuring favorable terms for the company.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key decision-makers at client organizations.

Market Engagement & Networking:

  • Support and lead company-organized events and seminars for potential target customers.
  • Represent the company at trade events, networking to generate leads and enhance brand visibility.
  • Gather and analyze market intelligence to identify new opportunities and trends.

Cross-Functional Collaboration & Support:

  • Collaborate with Engineering and Project teams to ensure smooth project execution and customer satisfaction.
  • Support in liaising with competent authorities regarding project licensing and permits.
  • Actively participate in the regional BD team, sharing feedback, intelligence, and contributing to continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Support existing customer management to ensure their satisfaction.

Sales Operations & Reporting:

  • Ensure the team actively uses and maintains accurate data within the company's CRM tool (SalesForce.com).
  • Provide regular sales reports and forecasts to senior management.

REQUIREMENTS

  • 5+ years of experience in solar B2B sales or business development, with a proven track record of leading sales teams.
  • Strong understanding of Power Purchase Agreements (PPA).
  • Malaysian national with fluent command of spoken and written English. Additional languages are a plus.
  • Outstanding interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build rapport and influence key stakeholders.
  • Strong analytical and project management skills.
  • Ability to work independently and efficiently under tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proven ability to generate creative solutions and make sound decisions.
  • Energy, drive, and resilience to navigate long sales cycles.
  • Passion for promoting sustainable energy solutions.
  • Ability to effectively communicate with diverse stakeholders, from facility management and procurement to senior executives.
  • Demonstrated track record and established network in relevant industries.
  • Solid understanding of contract negotiation and commercial agreements.
  • Must own a car with a valid driver’s license for client visits.
