A leading hospital in Malaysia is seeking a Head of Quality & Risk Management. The role involves overseeing quality assurance, risk management, and accreditation processes to ensure the highest standards of patient care. Candidates should have a BSc/MSc in Nursing, at least 5 years of management experience, and strong analytical skills. This position offers an opportunity to drive quality improvement initiatives in a dynamic healthcare environment.
1. In conjunction with the executive team, participate in the development and implementation of the organization’s operating plan.
2. Lead the development and implementation of department operating plans that support the larger organization plan in the areas of Quality Assurance, Integrity Unit, Accreditation, Hospital Licensing, Risk Management, and Infection Control.
3. Participate in administrative meetings.
4. Perform any other duties as assigned by the COO.
1. Develop, implement, and oversee quality improvement initiatives to ensure the delivery of the highest quality patient care, optimal patient flow, provider productivity, and continuity of care.
2. Review the organization’s quality management system periodically to ensure its effectiveness and relevance.
3. Plan and execute internal audits, and report findings to top management.
4. Monitor and update policies and SOPs to incorporate regulatory changes, ensuring accessibility and communication across the hospital.
5. Regularly update divisional leadership on current performance and discuss new Quality Improvement (QI) initiatives.
1. Plan, develop, and implement an integrity and governance framework, including policies such as the No Gift Policy, Anti-Corruption Pledge, etc.
2. Organize and facilitate awareness workshops and briefing sessions on integrity and governance practices regularly.
3. Prepare and submit mandatory half-yearly Integrity Reports to IGU/MACC or as needed.
4. Ensure the protection of whistleblowers.
5. Conduct annual audits or as necessary to enhance integrity and governance practices within RRI.
6. Maintain risk registers for all areas within RRI.
1. Lead, coordinate, and monitor internal and external certification and accreditation processes, including hospital licenses, MSQH, JCI, etc.
2. Review and assess risk management policies and protocols; recommend and implement improvements.
3. Conduct risk assessments by analyzing documentation, statistics, reports, and market trends.
4. Establish policies and procedures to identify and mitigate risks in services and departments.
5. Manage patient care/clinical outcomes related to complaints, and identify resolution measures. Coordinate root-cause analyses and review medico-legal cases or sentinel events.
6. Draft and present risk reports and proposals to executive leadership and senior staff.
7. Conduct ESH committee meetings as required.
1. Ensure adequate facilities and equipment are available to enable departmental objectives.
2. Ensure ongoing compliance with environment of care requirements.
Minimum Skills, Education / Professional Qualifications
1. BSc / MSc in Nursing or a related healthcare field.
2. Experience with hospital accreditation processes such as MSQH, ISO, JCI.
Professional Experience / Minimum Requirements
1. At least 5+ years of management experience in a hospital environment.
2. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
3. Proficiency in written and spoken English.
4. Strategic thinker with excellent interpersonal, emotional intelligence, communication, and cross-cultural skills.
5. Self-motivated with initiative and problem-solving abilities.
6. Capable of managing conflicts considerately and deliberately.
