Job summary

Jora Malaysia is seeking a senior academic leader to oversee the TESL programme's academic and operational management. You will steer curriculum development, quality assurance, and staff coordination to ensure high standards in teaching, learning, and assessment.

You will monitor student progress, collaborate with schools and industry partners, and drive research, employability initiatives, and engagement activities across the programme. Strong leadership and English expertise are essential.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years of relevant academic/teaching experience, preferably in higher education.
• Experience in programme coordination, academic leadership, curriculum development, or quality assurance is advantageous.
• Strong knowledge of English language teaching, TESL pedagogy, curriculum development, and assessment.

Responsibilities

• Lead and oversee the academic and operational management of the TESL programme.
• Develop, review, and enhance the programme curriculum in line with current educational trends, industry needs, and quality standards.
• Ensure effective delivery of teaching, learning, assessment, and academic activities.
• Coordinate and support academic staff in teaching, research, professional development, and other academic activities.
• Monitor students’ academic performance, progression, and overall learning experience.
• Ensure programme documentation and academic quality assurance requirements are maintained.
• Coordinate programme reviews, audits, accreditation, and quality assurance activities.
• Build and maintain relationships with schools, industry partners, and relevant professional bodies.
• Promote research, publications, consultancy, and community engagement activities.
• Support student employability initiatives, including internship, practicum, and industry engagement.
• Participate in academic committees and other institutional activities.

Requirements

• Minimum Master’s Degree in TESL, Applied Linguistics, Education, English Language Studies, Linguistics, or a related field.
• Bachelor’s Degree in TESL, Education, English Language, Linguistics, or a related discipline.
• Minimum 5 years of relevant academic/teaching experience, preferably within a higher education institution.
• Experience in programme coordination, academic leadership, curriculum development, or quality assurance will be an added advantage.
• Strong knowledge of English language teaching, TESL pedagogy, curriculum development, and assessment.
• Good understanding of higher education quality assurance and accreditation requirements.
• Strong leadership, communication, interpersonal, and organisational skills.
• Excellent command of English, both written and spoken.
• Candidates with a PhD and/or relevant academic leadership experience will have an added advantage.
