The Head of Operations will lead and oversee the firm’s day-to-day non-investment operations, ensuring the seamless execution and scalability of its trading, technology, compliance (non-financial), real-time operational risk, vendor management, HR, and investor operations.
The role requires a hands-on, adaptable operator with a strong understanding of both traditional hedge fund processes and the fast-evolving crypto ecosystem.
You will work closely to the partners of the firm and work hand in hand with the firm's CFO, head of engineering, and HR to ensure seamless operations of the firm.
Responsibilities
Operational Leadership:
- Design and manage core business operations including trade lifecycle processes, data governance, compliance infrastructure, vendor management, and operational risk.
- Optimize workflow efficiency between research, trading, compliance, and technology teams.
- Lead cross-functional initiatives to improve performance, automation, and scalability.
- Develop and enforce operational KPIs and process accountability.
- Work with the partners and engineering leads to ensure operational robustness of trading infrastructure, systems uptime, cybersecurity, incident response, and operational tooling and business continuity.
- Oversee integration of third-party APIs (exchanges, custodians, data feeds) and related vendor relationships.
- Support business continuity planning.
- Oversee implementation and maintenance of middle/back office technology platforms.
Middle & Back Office Operations:
- Own the full post-trade lifecycle, including reconciliations, margin management, collateral monitoring, and trade settlements.
- Ensure data integrity across fund admin, prime broker, and custody partners.
- Maintain accurate internal dashboards and operational metrics.
Compliance & Legal Operations (Non-Financial):
- Manage non-financial regulatory compliance and liaise with legal counsel on firmwide operational policies, including trading compliance, recordkeeping, and licensing.
- Ensure operational procedures comply with global regulatory frameworks (e.g., SEC, FCA, MiFID II).
Human Capital & Internal Ops:
- Oversee HR functions including recruiting operations, performance management, and team structuring (in coordination with department heads).
- Maintain and improve internal knowledge-sharing, documentation, and operational processes.
- Oversee KYC/AML processes for counterparties, custodians, and investors.
Investor & Client Operations:
- Ensure seamless client onboarding, reporting, and investor communications (in coordination with IR).
- Oversee operational due diligence processes for prospective investors.
- Ensure clear, consistent communication around operational risks and controls.
Strategic Planning & Execution:
- Translate the partner’s vision into executable operational strategies.
- Lead strategic planning sessions and drive high-priority initiatives across the organization.
Crypto-Native Operations:
- Oversee wallet management workflows (hot, cold, MPC custody), on-chain settlement, and multisig processes.
- Implement controls around staking, bridging, wrapping, and smart contract interactions across DeFi protocols.
- Manage centralized exchange accounts, counterparty onboarding, and real-time risk exposure.
- Implement controls and automation for trade lifecycle processes: trade capture, margin tracking, settlements, and reconciliation (excluding accounting entries).
- Lead operational security efforts in collaboration with engineering and custodians.
Required Experience
- 8–15 years of experience in operations leadership, preferably within hedge funds, trading firms, or crypto-native organizations.
- Deep knowledge of financial markets, trading infrastructure, crypto market and custody models, operational risks, and exchange workflows.
- Excellent leadership, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Proven ability to lead high-performance teams and scale infrastructure in fast-moving environments.
- Bachelor’s degree required; technical or legal education a plus.
