The Head of Modern Trade and E-Commerce will be responsible for leading and executing the sales strategy across modern trade (MT) channels and online platforms. This role demands a strategic thinker with a strong commercial acumen, who can drive revenue growth, improve channel efficiency, and enhance customer engagement across retail chains and digital marketplaces.
Job Description:
Modern Trade:
· Develop and manage the modern trade strategy in alignment with overall sales and marketing objectives.
· Build and maintain strong relationships with key accounts such as supermarkets, hypermarkets, and retail chains.
· Lead annual negotiations with modern trade partners (e.g., trading terms, joint business plans, promotions).
· Ensure effective execution of in-store visibility, activations, and planograms.
· Monitor sales performance, market share, and profitability of modern trade channels.
· Forecast and manage budgets for promotions, trade discounts, and merchandising.
E-Commerce:
· Own the P&L for e-commerce channels (marketplaces, D2C website, quick commerce, etc.).
· Lead e-commerce strategy development, pricing, assortment planning, and promotional calendar.
· Partner with key online platforms like Amazon, Flipkart, BigBasket, JioMart, etc.
· Work closely with digital marketing, supply chain, and customer service teams to optimize the end-to-end e-commerce experience.
· Analyze platform data and consumer trends to drive sales, improve conversion rates, and increase average order value.
· Ensure inventory availability and delivery SLAs are met.
Team Management:
· Build, lead, and develop a high-performing team across both MT and E-Commerce verticals.
· Set clear KPIs, provide regular coaching and performance feedback.
Qualifications:
· Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, or related field; MBA preferred.
· 8–12 years of experience in sales, with at least 3–5 years in modern trade and e-commerce.
· Strong understanding of retail dynamics, digital commerce, and category management.
· Proven success in managing key accounts, leading negotiations, and driving revenue growth.
· Analytical mindset with strong data interpretation and decision-making skills.
· Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder management abilities.
