Job summary

Ambition in Kuala Lumpur is seeking a Head of Finance for a 2-year renewable contract within the building and construction sector. You will lead the finance team and report to the CFO, shaping financial strategy for large-scale projects.

The role requires a degree in Finance/Accounting with professional qualification (ICAEW/ACCA/CIMA/MICPA) and at least 5 years at senior management level in construction, property development or engineering.

Responsibilities

• Lead and develop the finance team, driving continuous improvement and high performance.
• Oversee financial reporting, budgeting and planning to ensure accuracy and compliance.
• Manage CAPEX and overhead budgets, monitor expenditure against targets.
• Strengthen internal controls and ensure compliance with legal, tax and regulatory requirements.
• Lead cash management and funding activities and liaise with financial institutions.
• Provide ad hoc financial analysis and strategic reporting to senior leadership.

The Role

What We're Looking For

• Degree in Finance, Accounting or a related discipline, supported by a professional qualification (e.g. ICAEW, ACCA, CIMA, MICPA or equivalent)
• A minimum of 5 years' experience at senior management level
• Experience in Construction, Property Development or Engineering industry
• Strong leadership and interpersonal skills, with a proven ability to inspire and develop a high-performing team
• A background in construction, infrastructure, public transport or financial services is advantageous
• Sound knowledge of financial controls, reporting standards, and compliance frameworks
