Job description

Responsibilities

Strategic Planning and Decision Making

  • Engage in strategic and financial planning to support business growth.
  • Forecast sales against expenses and develop comprehensive annual budget plans.
  • Analyze financial data, market trends, and performance metrics to inform decision-making.
  • Develop and evaluate new business opportunities to improve profitability.
  • Implement appropriate controls to manage business risks and safeguard assets.
  • Provide analytical support during budget reviews to identify cost-saving and productivity opportunities.
  • Produce accurate financial forecasts and ensure operational alignment to business goals.

Developing and Maintaining Finance Goals

  • Ensure accurate documentation of profits and losses.
  • Monitor tax compliance and timely submissions.
  • Oversee financial reporting and ensure submission of reports within deadlines.
  • Support achievement of financial, team, and performance goals across departments.
  • Monitor purchasing and cost control processes.
  • Lead initiatives to improve profit growth and operational efficiency.
  • Review audit outcomes and ensure timely resolution of issues.

Corporate Planning and Financial Management

  • Lead corporate planning, including budgeting, strategic evaluation, and financial modelling.
  • Drive fundraising initiatives, including sourcing, structuring, negotiating, and securing equity and debt financing.
  • Manage end-to-end financing processes (origination, documentation, and completion) to support strategic growth.
  • Ensure compliance with Group financial policies and internal controls.
  • Review capital expenditure and project proposals.
  • Prepare tax computations and ensure regulatory compliance.
  • Oversee cash flow and working capital management.

Stakeholders Engagement

  • Communicate effectively with stakeholders including owners, senior management, and corporate teams.
  • Advise the GM and executive committee on financial performance and emerging issues.
  • Present financial concepts clearly to drive informed business decisions.
  • Align financial strategy with ownership priorities and long-term company goals.
  • Lead or participate in management reviews and critique sessions.

Leading Finance Teams

  • Provide strong leadership to the finance team and cross-functional departments.
  • Set clear goals and accountability for direct reports.
  • Conduct performance appraisals and promote professional development.
  • Ensure compliance with internal, external, and regulatory audit requirements.
  • Influence organizational strategy through financial insight and operational leadership.

Qualifications & Skills

  • Tertiary qualification in Business, Finance, Accounting, or Economics
  • Professional qualifications (e.g., CPA, ACCA, CFA) are an added advantage
  • Minimum of 15 years of work experience, including at least 10 years in a leadership role
  • Prior experience in the retail industry is an added advantage
  • Strong negotiation skills with a solid understanding of current market practices
  • A collaborative team player with strong interpersonal and project management skills
  • Resourceful and able to deliver results under tight deadlines
  • Excellent written and verbal proficiency in English
  • Strong presentation and writing skills

Work Location & Schedule:

  • Based at our HQ office in Section 33, Shah Alam
  • Personal transportation is required due to limited access to public transportation
  • Standard working hours: Monday to Friday, 9:00 AM – 6:00 PM
  • Flexibility to work extended hours, weekends, or public holidays is required, particularly during event periods or time-sensitive initiatives
  • On-site presence at events is expected, which may involve long hours
