ISP Head of English Role Profile
Purpose of Role
To lead, plan and deliver high quality learning opportunities for secondary aged students from year 7 – 11. To lead a team of three teachers and report to the Head of Secondary.

ISP Head of English Key Responsibilities

- Experience of IGCSE English as First Language and English Literature. Experience of AQA, Edexcel or CAIE examination boards is desirable.
- Is an inspiring teacher with a proven track record in making students better.
- Has an ability to teach all areas of National Curriculum for England for English.
- Has ability to differentiate learning for EAL learners.
- Has knowledge of changes and development in the curriculum and pedagogy.
- Is a strong communicator, who is personable, caring and passionate with high expectations.
- Is committed to getting better through continued professional development and excited about leading others in getting better too.
- Is committed to safeguarding and sees the pastoral responsibilities of a teacher as central to everyone’s role.
Skills, Qualifications and Experience
- Hold a good Honor’s Degree.
- Hold a UK-recognized teaching qualification (PGCE or similar).
- Have experience and excellent knowledge of teaching and leading the English National Curriculum & IGCSE/A Level.
- A minimum of 3 years’ teaching experience is essential.
- A track record of outstanding attainment in IGCSE English Literature and English Language
- Evidence of leading contributing to the development of KS3 English curriculum skills
- Understand and be able to articulate what constitutes outstanding learning.
- Want to play an active role in the co-curricular life of an international school
- Contribute to the wider community by organizing Poetry Week, World Book Day and competitions with reputable national and international organizations.
- Possess the ambition, enthusiasm and growth mindset to want to play a key role in shaping and developing a growing and dynamic school.
- Be committed to their own continued professional development and excited about professional learning conversations with like-minded colleagues.
- The ability to teach an additional subject would be an advantage.
