A leading educational institution in Malaysia is seeking a Head of Department for Education to lead and manage academic initiatives. The ideal candidate will possess a PhD in Education, have at least 8 years of academic experience, and showcase strong leadership and curriculum design skills. Responsibilities include overseeing teaching standards, coordinating academic assessments, and fostering partnerships. The position calls for excellent command of English and demonstrated capability in leading diverse teams towards achieving academic goals.
To lead and manage the Department of Education by delivering high-quality teaching, ensuring academic excellence, overseeing curriculum development, and providing strategic direction in line with HELP University’s goals and values. The HOD will foster a supportive learning environment, drive academic innovation, and maintain strong alignment with industry and regulatory standards.
1. General: To lead department meetings, compile reports for the Dean or relevant committees, and ensure the department is informed of important outcomes while taking any required follow-up actions.
2. Academic Leadership & Teaching:Ensure relevant academic support foreffective learning experience for students. Ensure the internal quality and performance standards of lecturers are consistently met.
3. Partnership and Programme Coordination:Provide continuous support to feeder school.
4. Departmental Management & Administration:To assist the Dean in interviews, onboarding, performance appraisals and staff development matters, to oversee and allocate duties for all departmental staff while coordinating their work and advising on resourcing needs, to designate staff to represent the department on specific matters and retaining full responsibility for all delegated functions.
5. Examinations and Academic Assessment:Coordinates with Registry on examination, and ensure the integrity and effectiveness of assessment processes.
6. Student Admission & Conduct:Review student applications, monitor conduct and academic performance, and work closely with the Registrar on disciplinary, withdrawal, and progression matters.
7. Other Duties: Undertakes additional responsibilities and projects as assigned, while fostering a culture of academic excellence and continuous improvement within the department.
Candidates must possess a PhD in Education, preferably in EduTech.
Minimum of 8 years of experience in academia, including teaching, research, and administrative roles.
Possess strong professional networks in the Education area within universities.
Prior leadership experience, such as HOD, Program Leader, or similar.
Proven ability to lead teams through organizational changes and to create new programs.
Strong leadership and interpersonal skills.
Demonstrated ability to work with students and staff from diverse range of backgrounds.
Excellent command of spoken and written English.
Proven experience in curriculum design, program management, and academic quality assurance.
