Overview
We are setting up a new asset management firm with a vision to deliver high-quality investment solutions rooted in integrity, transparency, and accountability. As part of our founding team, we are looking for an experienced and proactive Head of Compliance to work alongside us to build a strong regulatory foundation from day one.
This is a rare opportunity to help shape the compliance function of a newly licensed Capital Markets Services Licence (CMSL) holder, with a direct and visible impact on the firm’s long-term success.
Job Responsibilities:
- Assist in the development, implementation, and maintenance of compliance frameworks, policies, and procedures in line with the requirements of the Securities Commission Malaysia (SC) and other applicable laws.
- Ensure ongoing compliance with the Capital Markets and Services Act 2007 (CMSA) and relevant SC guidelines, including licensing conditions.
- Monitor business activities to identify potential compliance risks and implement corrective actions where necessary.
- Handle all regulatory filings, notifications, and correspondence with the SC guideline, and other relevant authorities.
- Support the company's obligations as a CMSL holder, including compliance reporting and periodic submissions.
- Review marketing materials, product documents, and investor communications for regulatory compliance.
- Conduct internal compliance reviews, gap assessments, and assist in regulatory audits or inspections.
- Keep abreast of regulatory updates and ensure timely communication and implementation of any changes.
- Provide compliance training and awareness sessions to staff, ensuring alignment with internal standards and SC regulations.
- Act as a liaison between internal departments and the regulator on compliance-related matters.
- Undertake any assignments as required by the Board of Directors and Management.
Must-Have Requirements:
- Relevant diploma from an institution recognised by the Malaysian Government with minimum 8 years' relevant experience in capital markets; or
- Any degree / professional qualification from an institution recognised by the Malaysian Government ; and
- Minimum 3 years' direct experience as a capital market compliance officer; or Minimum 5 years' experience in capital markets; and
- Pass Modules 9 and 10 SCLE, OR, attend SCLE revision courses on the relevant modules which he/she will be responsible for compliance; and
- Have adequate level of knowledge about developments in the market, products and regulation and possess skills and technical know-how (this may be verified via interviews with the SC, if requested).
