Job Purpose

The Head of Business IT (BIT) is responsible forleading the Business IT function that directly support business operations, including Business Analyst, Application Support, Data Analyst & reporting including the IT Operation outsourcing to Group IT. This role involves strategic leadership, operational insight, and the implementation of best practices to ensure effective use of technology in meeting business needs besides complying with regulatory requirement. The position is responsible to ensure the day-to-day General Insurance business system are upkept, maintained, governed, and operationally performed as expected within the agreed SLA.

The Job

  • Develop and work with Group IT to implement IT Strategies that with the organization overall business goal, focusing on optimizing technology to enhance operational efficiency and support business growth.
  • Lead the Business Analyst function to identify business needs, gather requirements, and develop solutions that improve processes and support strategic initiatives. Ensure that business analyst work closely with stakeholders to translate business requirements into technical specifications.
  • Oversee the application support team to ensure reliable, high-performance, and secure application environment. This includes managing the lifecycle of business applications, from implementation to maintenance and upgrades.
  • Lead the Data Analysis and reporting functions to provide actionable insight that drive informed decision making. Ensure the development and maintenance of robust data analytics and reporting frameworks that meet business needs.
  • Manage and mentor the team and foster culture of collaboration, continuous learning and professional growth within BIT department.
  • Takes accountability in considering business and regulatory compliance risks and takes appropriate steps to mitigate the risks.
  • Collaborate with business leaders and other stakeholders to understand their needs, provide IT solutions and ensure seamless integration of technology with operational business processes. Facilitate effective communication between IT and other departments within GEGM.
  • Establish and monitor key performance indicators (KPI) and metrics for BIT functions and review the KPI of Outsourced services to Group IT on IT operation and Software Development.
  • Ensure that the outsourced IT operations related functions comply with relevant guideline and standards including those IT related non-outsourced functions. Implement robust risk management practice to safeguard the organization’s data and systems, particularly in business-critical applications and data analysis activities.
  • Develop and manage the IT budget of GEGM, ensuring efficient collaboration of resources and cost-effective use of technology investments. Optimize the use of financial resources to support IT initiatives that add value to the business.
  • As part of the leadership team, work with key stakeholders to proactively shape the organisation’s culture and conduct environment that is aligned to the organization’s Core Values.
  • Champion culture and conduct behavioral expectations within the Department/Division.
  • Maintains awareness of industry trends on regulatory compliance, emerging threats and technologies in order to understand the risk and better safeguard the company.
  • Highlights any potential concerns /risks and proactively shares best risk management practices.

The Person:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Technology Management or related fields.
  • Minimum 12 years working experience with at least 5 years’ experience as Section Head within IT department (preferable within the insurance or financial services industry).
  • Strong leadership, communication, stakeholder management and team management skills.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and effectively manage multiple projects and priorities.
  • Takes initiative to improve current state of things and adaptable to embrace new changes.
  • High level of integrity takes accountability of work and good attitude over teamwork.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build relationships and collaborate effectively with colleagues, stakeholders, and external partners.
  • Experience in identifying and mitigating IT Operational risk.
  • Knowledge of relevant regulations and standards, ensuring the IT Operations comply with legal and industry requirements.
  • Certification in Service Delivery, Process Improvement, Business Analyst (e.g.: ITIL, CBAP, Six Sigma,) is desirable.
  • Demonstrates alignment with the organisation’s core values through expected behaviours.
  • High level of integrity, takes accountability of work and good attitude over teamwork.
  • Takes initiative to improve current state of things and adaptable to embrace new changes.
