Job summary

Celestica in Penang, Malaysia is seeking a hands-on hardware engineer with a self-starting attitude who can work with minimal supervision and handle multiple priorities in a busy environment.

You will perform hardware validation, troubleshoot issues with R&D, Manufacturing and Field teams, and evaluate components for compatibility and cost. Proficiency with PCIe, NVMe, DDR buses, and test equipment is required. Bachelor degree in Electronics and 2–5 years of related experience are expected.

Qualifications

• BEng. (Hons.) in Electronics or similar.
• 2–5 years of related experience.
• Hands-on hardware role with strong technical knowledge.

Responsibilities

• Identify technical issues, troubleshoot and resolve them by coordinating with R&D, Manufacturing and Field teams.
• Hardware validation of Networking, Storage, Server products against customer’s infield issues, product requirements and Mfg. issues during NPI or RMA.
• Qualify alternative components for compatibility, cost effectiveness and benchmarking.
• Work with Mfg., Test and development teams to troubleshoot, identify root cause of system failure, suggest and validate solutions.

Detailed Description

Performs tasks such as, but not limited to, the following:

• Identify technical issues, troubleshoot and resolve them by coordinating with R&D, Manufacturing and Field teams
• Hardware validation of Networking, Storage, Server products against customer’s infield issues, product requirements and Mfg. issues during NPI or RMA
• Qualify alternative components for compatibility, cost effectiveness and benchmarking
• Work with Mfg., Test and development teams to troubleshoot, identify root cause of system failure, suggest and validate solutions
• BEng. (Hons.) in Electronics or similar
• Strong electrical design and debug skills required
• Familiar with PCIe, NVMe, SAS, SATA, I2C, SPI, PMBus, DDR buses
• SDRAM timing and integrity analysis for clocks, strobes, S&H, Power bounce, temp. stability
• High performance RISC / X86 CPUs and architecture including Intel, AMD, MRVL
• Proficient in using various test and measurement equipment including but not limited to Oscilloscope, Impedance analyzer, Power meter, Signal analyzer, Spectrum analyzer
• Working knowledge of windows & Linux configuration, installation procedure, network configuration, driver configuration etc.
• Working knowledge of Orcad Schematics & Allegro PCB layout tools is desirable
• Knowledge in signal integrity test, power integrity test, system integration test, thermal test, reliability test and EMC test is an advantage

Physical Demands

• Duties of this position are performed in a normal office environment.
• Duties may require extended periods of sitting and sustained visual concentration on a computer monitor or on numbers and other detailed data.
• Repetitive manual movements (e.g., data entry, using a computer mouse, using a calculator, etc.) are frequently required.
• Occasional travel may be required.
