Job summary

Altera is seeking an FPGA Failure Analysis Technician to perform FA activities on FPGA devices and support returns from internal or external customers in Penang, Malaysia. You will partner with Product Quality Engineering teams, engineers, technicians, and suppliers to identify root causes, run tests on testers and bench equipment, and document findings to drive preventive and corrective actions.

The role may require occasional overtime and contributes to overall product reliability and quality

Qualifications

• Technical Diploma in Electrical/Electronics/Semiconductor tech.
• Minimum 5 years in semiconductor/FPGA/IC electrical FA.
• Strong semiconductor fundamentals and device testing knowledge.
• Capable of data collection, troubleshooting, and reporting.
• Analytical, problem-solving, and root-cause investigation skills.
• Ability to work independently and cross-functionally.
• Clear verbal and written communication for reports.

Responsibilities

• Conduct hands-on FA tests on testers/benches and perform debug experiments.
• Handle FA cases end-to-end: data collection and report preparation.
• Coordinate with vendors for tool issues and maintenance.
• Plan daily FA operations with engineers and ensure lab uptime.
• Overtime may be required.
