Job summary

Jora Malaysia is seeking a Group Finance Manager deputy to lead consolidation, closing, budgeting and treasury across the Group. You will coordinate with subsidiaries, prepare financial statements and ensure compliance with MFRS and Bursa Malaysia.

The role emphasizes internal controls, systems improvements, ERP exposure and leadership of the finance team, with collaboration to senior management and the Board.

Job description

Assist the GFC in overseeing the monthly, quarterly and annual financial closing of the Group.

Review management accounts submitted by subsidiaries and business units for accuracy, completeness and consistency.

Coordinate and prepare Group consolidation, including consolidation adjustments, intercompany balances and transactions.

Assist in the preparation and review of quarterly financial results and annual financial statements.

Ensure financial reporting complies with applicable MFRS, Companies Act, Bursa Malaysia requirements and Group accounting policies.

Review significant accounting treatments, estimates, provisions, impairment assessments and other financial reporting matters.

Monitor closing timelines and follow up with subsidiaries to ensure timely submission.

Prepare and review monthly and periodic management reports for the GFC and senior management.

Analyse financial performance against budget, forecast and prior periods.

Provide variance analysis and explanations on revenue, profitability, operating expenses, cash flow, working capital and other key financial indicators.

Assist the GFC in preparing financial information, analysis and presentations for Management, Board and Board Committees.

Identify financial issues, emerging risks and areas requiring management attention.

C. Budgeting, Forecasting & Cash Flow

Coordinate the Group’s annual budgeting and periodic forecasting exercises.

Review budgets and forecasts submitted by subsidiaries and business units.

Prepare and maintain Group cash flow forecasts.

Monitor actual performance against approved budgets and forecasts.

Assist the GFC in assessing funding requirements and cash allocation priorities across the Group.

Support financial modelling, scenario analysis and projections for existing and new projects.

D. Treasury, Banking & Financing

Assist the GFC in managing the Group’s banking relationships and financing matters.

Coordinate financing applications, renewals, drawdowns and fulfilment of conditions precedent and subsequent.

Prepare and review information, financial projections and supporting documents required by banks and financial institutions.

Liaise with bankers, solicitors, valuers and other advisers on financing-related matters.

Monitor compliance with financing terms, covenants and security requirements.

Assist in managing capital calls, shareholders’ advances, intercompany funding and other funding arrangements.

Support the GFC in evaluating financing proposals and funding structures.

E. Accounts Receivable, Credit Control & Working Capital

Monitor Group receivables, ageing and collection performance.

Work with subsidiaries and business units to follow up on overdue accounts and collection plans.

Review credit exposure and compliance with approved credit terms and credit control policies.

Assist in assessing expected credit losses, impairment provisions and recoverability of receivables.

Monitor working capital requirements and recommend corrective actions where necessary.

F. Taxation & Regulatory Compliance

Coordinate corporate tax compliance matters with subsidiaries and tax agents.

Review tax computations, tax estimates, revisions and tax-related submissions.

Monitor tax payment obligations and submission deadlines.

Assist in addressing queries, audits or correspondence from tax authorities.

Coordinate SST, withholding tax and other applicable tax matters.

Support the GFC in tax planning and assessment of tax implications arising from transactions or projects.

G. Audit

Coordinate the Group's annual statutory audit and other audit-related matters.

Act as one of the principal finance contacts with external auditors.

Review audit schedules, supporting documents and responses prepared by subsidiaries.

Monitor outstanding audit matters and ensure timely resolution.

Assist the GFC in resolving accounting, audit and financial reporting issues raised by auditors.

Coordinate internal audit requirements relating to the Finance function where applicable.

H. Internal Controls, Policies & Governance

Assist the GFC in developing, implementing and maintaining appropriate financial policies, procedures and internal controls.

Review existing finance processes and recommend improvements to strengthen controls and operational efficiency.

Ensure compliance with the Group’s approval authority, payment procedures, procurement controls and financial policies.

Assist in addressing internal control weaknesses and implementing corrective actions.

Support risk management, governance and compliance matters relating to the Finance function.

I. Subsidiary & Operational Finance Oversight

Maintain close coordination with finance personnel across the Group.

Review and monitor the financial performance, cash flow and key financial matters of subsidiaries.

Provide guidance to subsidiary finance teams on accounting treatments, reporting requirements, controls and Group policies.

Assist in resolving operational finance issues escalated by subsidiaries.

Ensure consistent accounting and financial reporting practices throughout the Group.

Provide hands‑on support to subsidiaries where additional finance resources are required.

J. Corporate, Investment & Project Support

Assist the GFC in financial evaluation of new projects, investments, joint ventures and corporate exercises.

Prepare financial analysis, projections and supporting information for financing, investment and corporate proposals.

Review project budgets, capital expenditure and funding requirements.

Assist in monitoring project expenditure against approved budgets.

Support due diligence exercises and information requests from banks, investors, advisers and other stakeholders.

Participate in meetings and discussions on financial and commercial matters as assigned by the GFC.

K. Systems & Process Improvement

Support improvements to the Group’s accounting, reporting and finance systems.

Identify opportunities to automate and streamline finance processes.

Ensure proper financial data integrity and controls within accounting systems.

Assist in ERP, e-Invoicing and other finance‑related system implementation or enhancement projects.

2. DEPUTY TO GROUP FINANCIAL CONTROLLER

The Group Finance Manager shall act as the principal deputy to the Group Financial Controller.

Accordingly, the position is expected to:

Maintain sufficient understanding of all significant matters handled by the Group Finance Department.

Assist the GFC across the full spectrum of finance responsibilities and not be restricted to any single finance function.

Represent the GFC in internal or external meetings when delegated.

Coordinate with Management, subsidiaries, auditors, tax agents, bankers, advisers and other stakeholders on behalf of the GFC when required.

Review and follow up on critical finance matters to ensure continuity and timely completion.

Escalate significant financial, compliance, liquidity or control issues to the GFC promptly.

Provide appropriate coverage of the Group Finance function during the GFC’s absence.

Undertake additional responsibilities delegated by the GFC or Management from time to time.

3. TEAM MANAGEMENT & LEADERSHIP

Assist the GFC in supervising and developing Group Finance personnel.

Allocate and monitor assignments to ensure deadlines are achieved.

Review work prepared by finance team members and provide guidance where necessary.

Promote accountability, accuracy and timely completion of work.

Coach and develop finance personnel to strengthen the Group’s finance capabilities.

Facilitate effective communication between Group Finance and subsidiary finance teams.

Job Requirements

Degree in Accounting, Finance or equivalent professional qualification.

Professional accounting qualification and/or MIA membership would be an advantage.

Preferably 8–10 years or more of relevant accounting and finance experience, with exposure to group reporting and consolidation.

Experience in a public listed company environment would be highly advantageous.

Strong knowledge of MFRS, financial reporting, consolidation, taxation and internal controls.

Practical exposure to banking, financing, cash flow management and corporate finance matters.

Experience dealing with auditors, tax agents, bankers and senior management.

Strong Microsoft Excel and financial analysis skills.

Experience with ERP/accounting systems would be advantageous.

Strong technical accounting and financial knowledge.

Ability to understand the overall financial position of the Group, rather than working within only one specialised area.

Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.

Good commercial and business awareness.

Strong organisational and prioritisation skills.

Ability to manage multiple assignments and tight reporting deadlines.

Good leadership and people‑management skills.
