The Group Accountant is responsible for preparing and managing the financial reporting of the Company and the Group, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and compliance with relevant accounting standards and statutory requirements. The role involves financial consolidation, analysis, budgeting, and coordination across multiple departments to support senior management decision-making.
Responsibilities
- Prepare and manage the financial reporting of the Company and Group, ensuring accuracy, compliance with MFRS, and adherence to Group accounting policies.
- Prepare monthly consolidated management accounts, annual reports, and quarterly financial results for announcements to Bursa Malaysia.
- Supervise the Group's general accounting and financial closing team to ensure timely and accurate submission of reports to senior management and regulatory authorities.
- Ensure timely submission of monthly/quarterly consolidated financial statements, budgets, and other management reports.
- Analyze financial and non-financial data from consolidated reports to provide insights on Group performance, trends, and variances.
- Ensure subsidiaries' financials comply with MFRS and internal group policies.
- Coordinate the preparation of statutory reporting, Shariah Compliance Reports, and ad-hoc financial reports for Board and Senior Management meetings.
- Responsible for the compilation and review of annual budgets and forecasts on a consolidated basis.
- Ensure timely preparation and submission of quarterly disclosures and analyses as required by Bursa Malaysia and other regulatory bodies.
- Act as the key liaison point for coordination with various departments for data collection and financial input.
- Assist in managing and monitoring company accounts including accounts receivable (AR), accounts payable (AP), general ledger (GL), bank reconciliation, and month-end closing activities.
- Prepare consolidated cash flow statements and support treasury functions as needed.
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or professional qualification (ACCA, CIMA, CPA)
- Minimum 4 years of relevant working experience in accounting and financial reporting.
- Strong knowledge of Malaysian Financial Reporting Standards (MFRS) and International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS).
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel and accounting software systems.
- Strong analytical and communication skills with attention to detail.
- Meticulous, committed, and able to deliver results under tight deadlines.
- Responsible, flexible, motivated, and able to work both independently and as part of a team.
- Able to adapt in a fast-paced and dynamic work environment.
