Job summary

Cohu Malaysia Sdn Bhd is seeking a Systems Architect to lead system-level development of complex mechatronic equipment for the semiconductor backend. You will analyze requirements, guide subsystem concepts, and validate designs through modeling and simulation.

The role requires 5+ years in system engineering, strong modeling skills (MATLAB/Simulink, SolidWorks), and the ability to travel up to 20% internationally. Fluent English is essential; German/French is a plus.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in mechatronics, mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, or a related field.
• Minimum 5 years of system-level leadership experience for complex mechatronic systems, preferably in semiconductor backend equipment.
• Proven track record in system engineering, machine concept development, and cross-functional engineering leadership.
• Experience with thermals, motion control, sensor integration, and machine intelligence.

Responsibilities

• Conduct system-level requirement analysis and author technical specifications for sub-assembly modules.
• Lead evaluation and selection of technical concepts with domain experts based on function, cost, and risk.
• Ensure architectural consistency and interface compatibility across subsystems and modules.
• Guide development of subsystem concepts and validate via analytical modeling and simulation.
• Facilitate design reviews and track progress against system-level objectives.
• Drive risk assessments and initiate pre-development or technology validation activities.
• Ensure compliance with certification requirements (CE, SEMI, RoHS) and assist in documentation.
• Support patent applications and protection of IP arising from system innovations.
• Present technical solutions and resolve system-level issues with customers and stakeholders.
• Design detailed parts and assemblies as part of the system architecture.
