Job summary

Synthomer is seeking a Process Safety leader to drive PSM across its sites in the Asia region, with a focus on butadiene handling, risk assessment (HAZOP/HAZID) and regulatory compliance.

You will lead cross-functional teams, mentor technical staff, and actively participate in global SHE networks, delivering improvements through 3-year SHE plans, audits and training. Travel within Asia will be required to support CIMAH sites and regional initiatives.

Qualifications

• Degree in Chemical, Mechanical or Process Engineering preferred.
• 3–5 years’ experience in chemical industry, preferably CIMAH/Butadiene experience.
• Safety qualification preferable (e.g. NEBOSH or equivalent).
• Demonstrated leadership, ability to mentor and work in a multi-disciplinary environment.
• Experience with process safety tools (HAZOP/PHAs) and IEC 61511 is desirable.
• Excellent written and verbal communication; able to engage with peers and management.
• Willingness to travel within the Asia region.

Responsibilities

• Provide leadership and support in Process Safety Management (PSM) across sites.
• Support strengthening of global SHEMS standards through audits, training and sharing of best practices.
• Assist in development, reporting and analysis of Process Safety Performance Indicators.
• Be an active member of regional and global PS networks for safety communication.
• Facilitate risk assessments (HAZID, HAZOP, HAC, SIL, LOPA) for operations and projects.
• Support delivery of Process Safety initiatives (PHA, plant modifications, human factors).
• Contribute to 3-year SHE Improvement Plans aligned with strategy.
• Assist in reducing Process Safety Events and losses of containment.
• Act as regional SME for handling and management of Butadiene.
