Job summary

dormakaba International Holding AG in Malaysia is seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer to join the application solution team. Focus is on product development and manufacturability for steel metal fabrication in a fast-paced environment.

You will generate concepts, model designs, create drawings and BOMs, and prepare prototypes and manuals. Multi-disciplinary collaboration with sales, production and procurement is essential.

Qualifications

• Diploma/ Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
• Familiar with DFM, DFA, FMEA and tolerance analysis.
• Experience with sheet metal fabrication.
• Proficient in 3D/2D CAD tools (SolidWorks, DraftSight).
• Strong problem-solving and teamwork abilities.
• Good spoken and written English; Mandarin or German a plus.

Responsibilities

• Generate concepts and develop detailed designs for entrance system product.
• Create 3D models for design review and verification.
• Produce manufacturing drawings and BOMs for production.
• Prepare mockups and prototypes for reviews and verification.
• Develop assembly, operation and maintenance manuals.
• Create test plans to verify the design.
• Adapt designs for special projects based on existing products.
• Review specifications with customers and stakeholders.
• Collaborate with vendors during fabrication and with internal teams.
