Position Summary

The Global Category Expert – Plastic Packaging takes the lead in managing upstream categories namely, Resins (Polypropylene, Polyethylene, PET) and Base films. Responsible to lead and drive Sustainability initiatives in line with Nestle global commitments. Leverages the GCE industry network for market insight to drive category strategy definition, cost projections, general trends and innovation. Subject Matter Expert to represent the category with key stakeholders (Zone, Business, Markets). To provide category training/coaching to the team including Category Onboarding for new joiners.

A day in a life of a Global Category Expert - Plastic Packaging



• Implement the category's strategies, utilizing the Strategic Sourcing Process’ tools, templates and policies
• Perform supplier market analysis, category analysis, and supply risk analysis, and develop TCO understanding, as well as the map of how sourcing process and channels work within the category, and identify improvements to be targeted
• Prepare and execute negotiation events seeking best TCO contracts and beneficial commercial agreements with suppliers (approved by Category Manager)
• Participate in the development of the Above Market Sourcing Strategy.
• Ensure Compliance to Nestlé's Corporate Business Principles, policies, standards and Procurement Policy, Procurement Standardized Model, Nestlé Supplier Code, Best Practices, etc.
• Establish relationships with stakeholders to integrate category plans and outcomes in local budgets and price planning processes as required
• Integrate innovation, renovation and post award cost improvement elements from suppliers into Nestlé's innovation and renovation processes.
• In partnership with SRM Experts lead the planning and regular contract SLA reviews with suppliers and other functional partners such as quality.
• Working closely with Petrochemical companies to source recycled content resins
• Key contributions towards sustainability projects like Virgin Plastic Reduction, setting up value chain for recycled content materials. Closely working with Co-ESG and Zone technical teams
• Leveraging the GCE industry network for market insight in order to drive category strategy definition, cost projections, general trends and Innovation

• Minimum 8-10 years of Industry (Internal / or external) experience including Procurement
• Spend with high level of complexity (Global) and high Value
• Deep understanding of regulatory requirements of the area of expertise
• Fluency in English, another language will be an asset.
