Job summary

Bruker in Penang, Malaysia is seeking an Indirect Buyer to manage procurement of indirect goods and services, ensuring cost-effectiveness purchasing while maintaining quality, compliance and timely delivery. You will negotiate contracts, monitor supplier performance, and support strategic sourcing across Finance, HR, IT, Manufacturing and R&D, collaborating with internal stakeholders.

A BS/BA in a related field with 3–5 years in buying/planning is preferred; CPIM or CSCP certification is

• 3–5 years in a buyer/planner role for a direct manufacturer.
• Knowledge of forecasting, MRP, inventory management and purchasing.
• Proficient with MS Office and Excel; CPIM/CSCP preferred.

Responsibilities

The Indirect Buyer manages the procurement of indirect goods and services, ensuring cost-effective purchasing while maintaining quality, compliance, and timely delivery. This role works closely with internal stakeholders and suppliers to negotiate contracts, manage supplier performance, and support organizational procurement objectives.

Key Responsibilities:

• Source and procure indirect goods and services in accordance with company procurement policies.
• Identify, evaluate, and negotiate with suppliers to achieve the best value in terms of cost, quality, and service.
• Prepare and issue purchase orders, contracts, and supplier agreements.
• Monitor supplier performance and resolve issues related to quality, delivery, and service.
• Conduct market research to identify new suppliers and cost-saving opportunities.
• Manage supplier relationships and support strategic sourcing initiatives.
• Collaborate with departments such as Finance, HR, IT, Manufacturing & RnD department, and Facilities to understand procurement needs.
• Ensure compliance with procurement policies, legal requirements, and company standards.
• Analyze spending data and prepare procurement reports and cost-saving analyses.
• Support budgeting, forecasting, and continuous process improvement initiatives.

Qualifications

Education and/or experience requirements

• BS/BA in Supply Chain, Business, Logistics or equivalent experience
• 3-5 years of experience in a buyer/planner/material scheduler role working for a direct manufacturer - Required
• Demonstrated knowledge of forecasting, MRP, supply chain, inventory management and purchasing disciplines
• Proficient with MS Office suite – advanced skills with MS Excel
• Experience establishing and employing demand-pull material planning methods
• Certificate in CPIM or CSCP strongly preferred
• Knowledge, skills, abilities, and other characteristics

• Ability to review supplier financial reports / D&B and demonstrated understanding of supply markets, trends and supply chains in which suppliers operate in the Directspace.
• Understands contracts (able to read, interpret, and develop a basic contract using standard templates / T&Cs), the risk involved in acquiring the requiredproduct/service, and the legal ramifications of negotiating with suppliers and how a contract can be entered into.
