Job summary

Merck Sharp & Dohme LLC in Malaysia seeks an Associate Specialist – Accounting to Reporting (AtR) to manage general ledger activities, ensure accurate period-end close, and maintain robust controls across APJC markets.

The role requires collaboration with local finance teams, adherence to US GAAP and local statutory requirements, and interaction with Virtual Finance Teams to deliver timely and accurate financial reporting.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Accounting or Finance.
• 1-3 years of experience in Finance or Accounting in a multinational company including ex-US accounting.
• Fresh Graduates are encouraged to apply.
• Business-level English skills (speaking and writing) required.
• Experience with Balance Sheet reconciliations.
• Experience using SAP is desired.
• Experience with US GAAP is desired.
• Experience with non-US GAAP environments.
• Intermediate to Advanced PC skills (MS Excel, Word, PowerPoint) required.
• Experience in digital solutions including Microsoft Copilot, Power BI, Power Automate, Power Query/Data modelling, RPA and/or AI would be a plus.

Responsibilities

• Provide general ledger support and period end close for the assigned markets.
• Support General Ledger and AtR sub-process activities.
• Maintain accurate accounting ledger reflecting country transactions.
• Ensure transactions reflected correctly in the country ledger.
• Ensure timely period reporting per corporate and country requirements.
• Execute monthly account reconciliations adhering to standards.
• Identify opportunities to streamline and improve service delivery.
• Collaborate with markets and towers across finance disciplines.
• Review and sign off final financial package and balance sheet reconciliations.
• Work with audit controls and accounting principles.
• Collaborate with Virtual Finance Teams and other BSC towers.
• Ensure SOX compliance in accounting and reporting.
• Participate in Global Projects and Initiatives.
• Maintain accuracy of defined KPIs and SLAs.
