Job summary

Seagate Technology is seeking a GFIT Intern in Software Development for its Penang, Malaysia team. You will work with a multi-site Agile group on manufacturing and R&D applications, building APIs and interfaces while leveraging GenAI and secure coding practices.

You will gain hands-on experience across the software lifecycle, mentored by experienced developers, and contribute to portfolio-ready projects with real business impact.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a Bachelor's degree in CS/IT/SE/CE or related field.
• Experience building software/web/data/automation/AI projects via university, hackathon, portfolio or internship.
• Exposure to manufacturing, R&D, MES, factory apps or similar enterprise environments.

Responsibilities

• Develop and improve APIs, web interfaces, databases, automation, tests, and app integrations.
• Utilize GenAI and agentic workflows to analyze requirements, design solutions, generate code and tests, and create documentation.
• Review AI-generated work for accuracy, security, maintainability, and production readiness.
• Apply secure coding practices and support access control, vulnerability remediation, audit and compliance activities.
• Translate ideas into prototypes and demonstrate results to improve solutions.
