Job Title: Secondary School Teacher – Chemistry, General Science & Mathematics

Overview

UCSI Schools is seeking a dynamic and passionate Secondary School Teacher with expertise in Chemistry (Upper Secondary), along with the ability to teach General Science and Mathematics. The ideal candidate will deliver engaging, inquiry-based lessons that inspire students to explore scientific and mathematical concepts, develop critical thinking skills, and achieve academic excellence. This role emphasizes both subject mastery and a commitment to student growth within a supportive, internationally-minded school environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Plan and deliver high-quality, engaging lessons in Chemistry (Upper Secondary), General Science, and Mathematics for secondary school students.
  • Develop comprehensive lesson plans, teaching materials, and formative/summative assessments in line with the school's curriculum framework (e.g., Cambridge IGCSE, national curriculum, or equivalent).
  • Foster a student-centered learning environment that encourages inquiry, experimentation, and academic curiosity.
  • Monitor student achievement, provide timely and constructive feedback, and implement differentiated instruction to meet diverse learning needs.
  • Use a variety of teaching strategies and digital tools to enhance lesson delivery and student engagement.
  • Promote safety and good laboratory practices in all science-related activities and practicals.
  • Integrate real-world applications, interdisciplinary approaches, and STEM elements into lessons.
  • Collaborate closely with fellow teachers to ensure curriculum coherence and contribute to the development of school-wide academic standards.
  • Maintain accurate student records, report grades, and communicate effectively with parents and guardians during conferences or as needed.
  • Participate actively in school events, co-curricular activities, science fairs, competitions, and professional development sessions.
  • Uphold the school’s values, maintain professional integrity, and support student wellbeing and character development.
Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Science Education, Mathematics, or a related field.
  • Recognised teaching qualification (e.g., Diploma in Education, PGCE, teaching license).
  • Experience teaching Chemistry (Upper Secondary) and at least one other subject (General Science or Mathematics) at the secondary school level.
  • Strong classroom management, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to motivate and inspire students of varying abilities and backgrounds.
  • Familiarity with international curricula (e.g., Cambridge IGCSE) is highly desirable.
  • Passion for science and mathematics education, with a commitment to continuous professional growth.
  • Proficiency in using technology for teaching and learning (e.g., Microsoft Teams, Google Classroom, lab software, simulations).
