INDUSTRY : CONSTRUCTION & PROPERTY DEVELOPMENT

JOB DESCRIPTION

A General Manager in the construction industry is responsible for the overall success of a construction company or a specific project, overseeing all aspects from initial planning to project completion. This includes managing finances, leading teams, ensuring quality, and maintaining client relationships.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Project Planning and Execution: Oversee all phases of projects, including planning, scheduling, and execution, ensuring they are completed on time and within budget. Manage and motivate construction teams, including subcontractors and project managers, fostering a positive work environment and ensuring effective communication.
  2. Financial Management: Develop and manage project budgets, track expenses, and ensure profitability.
  3. Quality Control: Implement and maintain quality control measures to ensure projects meet specifications and industry standards. Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, addressing their concerns and ensuring their satisfaction.
  4. Risk Management: Identify and mitigate potential risks, including financial, safety, and project delays.
  5. Safety Compliance: Ensure that all construction sites adhere to safety regulations and protocols, prioritizing worker safety.
  6. Business Development: Identify and pursue new business opportunities, expanding the company's portfolio. Negotiate contracts with clients and subcontractors, ensuring favorable terms.
  7. Tender Management: Tender preparation, tender costing, site visits, and tender submission.

Required Skills and Experience:

  1. Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, Quantity Surveying, or a related discipline.
  2. Minimum 15 years of experience in the construction and property development industry.
  3. Proven expertise in feasibility studies, design development, and comprehensive project management.
  4. Strong leadership, communication, negotiation, and relationship-building skills.
  5. Resourceful, results-oriented, independent, and able to thrive in a fast-paced team environment.
  6. Experience liaising effectively with authorities, consultants, and contractors.
