Job description

Huntsman Corporation is now looking for a dynamic individual as a General Ledger Accountant.

The General Ledger Accountant will support the Accounting General Ledger Team Lead with global journal entries and harmonizing the journal process worldwide.

He/She is expected to work closely with Accounting management and the R2R Global Process Owner to establish general ledger governance, foster global journal definition, standardize and optimize processing and communication channels, and implement global reconciliations to minimize regional/entity variations.

He/She will also be responsible for ensuring that all daily operational tasks are performed in accordance with US GAAP and Sarbanes-Oxley Act (SOX) Control guidelines.

The ideal candidate will be based in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

Responsibilities
  1. Assist the team lead in establishing general ledger governance and global journal entry definition.
  2. Optimize end-to-end global journal entry processes to reduce non-value-added communication traffic.
  3. Accelerate journal posting through mass upload and automation.
  4. Enable global reconciliation with potential improvements in closing timelines.
  5. Support change management and collaborate with the Process Optimization team on technical improvements.
  6. Provide timely support and service requests from the business globally.
  7. Ensure all tasks comply with SOX and GAAP standards.
  8. Participate in system and procedure changes.
  9. Assist with requests from internal and external auditors.
  10. Follow instructions and perform other duties as assigned.
  11. Participate in required training programs.
  12. Engage in Environmental, Health, & Safety initiatives as set forth by the company.
Skills and Experience
  1. Bachelor's degree with 3-5 years of accounting experience.
  2. Experience managing change, implementing new procedures, and re-engineering processes.
  3. Strategic and analytical mindset.
  4. Knowledge of US GAAP and/or IFRS.
  5. Proficiency in MS Office, especially Excel, and Power Tools.
  6. Ability to prioritize tasks under tight deadlines.
  7. Continuous improvement mindset.
  8. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
  9. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  10. Experience with SAP or similar accounting systems is essential.
  11. Excellent presentation, written, and verbal communication skills in English.
