Job summary

Hipower Metal & Stainless Steel Works in Bayan Lepas, Penang, is hiring a full-time Lorry Driver with a GDL license to transport goods across assigned routes, maintaining safety and punctual deliveries.

You will perform pre-trip inspections, log mileage and fuel, load and secure cargo, and liaise with dispatch to handle route changes. Candidates should have at least 2 years of professional driving, a clean record, and the ability to work independently with a focus on safety.

Qualifications

• Valid GDL or equivalent HGV/LGV licence.
• Minimum 2 years of professional lorry driving experience.
• Clean driving record with no serious violations in the past 5 years.
• Knowledge of Penang routes and road networks.
• Strong understanding of vehicle maintenance and safety protocols.
• Excellent time management and route planning abilities.
• Professional communication skills and ability to work independently.
• Physical fitness and ability to lift and move heavy items safely.
• Flexibility to work varying hours to meet delivery schedules.
• Commitment to health and safety standards and defensive driving practices.
• Preferred: experience in metal or industrial goods transport.

Responsibilities

• Operate heavy goods vehicles safely and efficiently on assigned routes.
• Ensure on-time deliveries according to schedules.
• Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections and report issues promptly.
• Maintain records of mileage, fuel consumption, delivery times and incidents.
• Comply with traffic laws, safety regulations and company policies while driving.
• Load and secure cargo properly within weight limits.
• Communicate with dispatch about route changes or delays.
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of the vehicle interior and exterior.
• Assist with basic cargo handling and unloading when required.
