Job summary

Vertiv in Malaysia is seeking a hands-on electrical test technician to perform functional and acceptance testing of switchgear systems, including low and medium voltage breakers, protective relays, CTs and PTs, and associated control circuitry.

You will carry out performance tests such as insulation resistance, hipot, timing, relay calibration, troubleshoot wiring and control issues, interpret schematics, and prepare comprehensive test reports.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Associate degree or technical certification in Electrical Technology, Industrial Electronics, or a related field preferred.
  • Minimum 2-5 years of hands-on experience with switchgear testing, electrical systems troubleshooting, or commissioning in industrial or commercial settings.

  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Willingness to travel for short-term field assignments or customer support.
  • Ability to work independently or as part of a team with minimal supervision.
Work Environment
  • This position may require work in manufacturing, construction, or field service environments.
  • Must be able to stand, walk, kneel, and lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Personal protective equipment (PPE) and adherence to safety protocols are required in all work areas.
Preferred Attributes
  • Prior experience working with UL, ANSI, or IEC-compliant switchgear systems.
  • Familiarity with electrical codes, testing standards (e.g., NETA, IEEE), and quality assurance procedures.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills.
  • Self-driven, with a focus on delivering high-quality results.
