Job summary

EY is seeking a highly analytical and detail-oriented Business and Data Analyst to support delivery of a next-generation core system modernisation across Retail, SME, and Commercial segments. You will bridge business needs and technical delivery by capturing and validating requirements and ensuring data readiness and lineage throughout the transformation lifecycle.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or related field.
• 8+ years in Business Analyst/Data Analyst in financial services with at least one end-to-end system transformation.
• Experience in technology and business transformations, incl. business process re-engineering.
• Knowledge of banking compliance and regulatory matters.
• Hands-on data analysis using SQL, Excel, or data profiling tools.
• Understanding of data governance, quality, and privacy principles.
• Familiarity with banking modules ( CASA, Deposits, Loans, Payments, Customer ).
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills for non-technical audiences.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with business stakeholders to define and document requirements (BRD).
• Develop process flows, user stories, and acceptance criteria for system functionality.
• Support requirements traceability across the SDLC to deliver business value.
• Assist in gap analysis between legacy and target systems during migration planning.
• Facilitate workshops, walkthroughs, and sprint ceremonies (if using Agile).
• Document mappings, test cases, and user guides; present findings to stakeholders.

We are seeking a highly analytical and detail-oriented Business and Data Analyst to support delivery of a next-generation core system modernisation with downstream applications and systems across different business segments (e.g. Retail, SME, and Commercial).

This role is critical in bridging the gap between business needs and technical delivery by capturing and validating business requirements and ensuring data readiness, quality, and lineage throughout the transformation lifecycle. You will work closely with stakeholders from business, IT, data, and vendor teams to define requirements, validate solutions, analyse data structures, and support migration, integration, and reporting activities.

Key Responsibilities

Business Analysis

• Collaborate with business stakeholders to define, analyse, and document business requirements (i.e. BRD)
• Develop process flows, user stories, and acceptance criteria for new or enhanced system functionality
• Support requirements traceability across the SDLC, ensuring business value is delivered
• Assist in gap analysis between legacy and target systems during migration planning
• Facilitate workshops, walkthroughs, and sprint ceremonies (if using Agile)

Data Analysis & Migration Support

• Analyse source and target system data models, data dictionaries, and mapping documents
• Collaborate with data migration team to ensure data accuracy and consistency
• Assist in defining and validating data quality rules, reconciliation reports, and lineage tracking
• Help identify master and reference data sources, and support metadata documentation

Reporting & Insights

• Support business stakeholders in defining reporting and analytics requirements
• Perform data extraction and analysis to support insights, testing, and validation
• Ensure alignment of data requirements with regulatory and operational reporting obligations

Stakeholder Communication & Documentation

• Serve as the liaison between business, data, and technical teams
• Document business/ data requirements, source-to-target mappings, test cases, and user guides
• Present findings, recommendations, and impact assessments to senior stakeholders

Required Qualifications

Education & Technical Skills

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related field
• Minimum 8 years of experience in Business Analyst or Data Analyst role in the financial services industry, with at least one end-to-end system transformation or modernization project (e.g., banking core, insurance policy admin systems)
• Experience with both technology and business-related transformations, especially in business process re-engineering
• Experience in financial services sector, especially in Consumer, Commercial and Transaction Banking fields
• Knowledge of banking compliance and regulatory matters
• High ability to report and present succinctly
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a structured, detail-oriented mindset
• Hands-on skills in data analysis using SQL, Excel, or data profiling tools
• Understanding of data governance, quality, and privacy principles
• Understanding of financial services core modules, such as:
• Banking (e.g. CASA, Deposits, Loans, Payments, Customer, Treasury)
• Familiarity with banking operations, business processes, and regulatory reporting (e.g., financial accounting, CCRIS, STATsmart, MFRS9, PIDM, EAL)
• Insurance (e.g. Policy administration, Underwriting, Claims Management, Payments, Re-insurance, Takaful knowledge/experience is needed)
• Treasury (e.g. Customer, Trade Booking, Trade Event, Settlement, Post Settlement, etc.)
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to translate technical content for non-technical audiences

Professional Certification

• Data analysis certifications (e.g., Microsoft Power BI, Tableau, SQL, or DAMA)
• Agile/Scrum certifications
• PMP (Project Management Professional) or PRINCE2 Practitioner
