The role

We’re looking for a Full Stack Software Engineer who not only has strong technical skills but can also lead teams and drive projects from concept to execution. The ideal candidate is comfortable working in a fast-paced, remote-first environment and can take ownership of engineering initiatives while collaborating with cross-functional teams. This role reports to the Head of Engineering.

What you’ll be doing

1. Integrate, build and manage services both external and internal to Splyt’s operations.
2. Architecting and developing high-performance, cross-platform web applications, APIs and microservices.
3. Collaborate with product owners and business development teams to drive projects forward and deliver impactful solutions.
4. Ensure the maximum availability and reliability of Splyt’s global services and provide architectural expertise.
5. Stay on top of the latest technologies and trends through training and professional development.
6. Providing thoughtful feedback, nurture an inclusive engineering environment, and champion engineering fundamentals. Bring out the best from your fellow engineers.
7. Identifying and implementing opportunities for optimization across the technology stack, focusing on cost, efficiency, velocity & dev happiness.
8. Establishing and enforcing best practices for testing and quality assurance from Engineering aspect.

Who we are looking for

1. Front-End: Expertise in React, Redux or any other modern web development technologies.
2. Back-End: Experience with Node.js, MongoDB, Redis, and other back-end technologies.
3. Platform: Experience with Argo CD, Terraform, Google Cloud Platform or other platform related technologies.
4. Distributed Systems & Service Communication: Strong experience with microservice communication protocols (e.g., REST, gRPC), pub/sub messaging architectures, and message queue systems (e.g., Kafka, RabbitMQ, Google Pub/Sub) to enable scalable and decoupled service-to-service communication.
5. API Integration & Security: Hands-on experience integrating with external and internal services via RESTful APIs or other service-to-service communication protocols, with a strong understanding of security best practices, including HMAC authentication and secure transmission of sensitive data.
6. Project Management: Ability to run projects independently, ensuring timely delivery and alignment with business goals.
7. Passion for Learning: Continuous interest in learning new tools, techniques, and technologies in the developer community.
8. Mentorship ability: Contribute to Splyt’s technical culture by mentoring junior developers and leading technical discussions.

Qualifications & Experience

Required

1. A degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a similar technical field.
2. At least 3 years of experience as a Full Stack Developer or Software Engineer.
3. Experience with TypeScript.
4. Experience with containerization technologies like Docker and Kubernetes.
5. Proficiency in English (both written and verbal) to communicate effectively with international teams.
6. Familiarity with development methodologies such as Kanban or Agile.

Preferred

1. Participation in open-source projects.
2. Experience in the ride-hailing or mobility industry.
