An established, regulated Forex and CFD brokerage with a strong international presence is seeking a talented Financial Services Paralegal to join their team in Kuala Lumpur.

This is an exciting opportunity for a proactive legal professional with 1-3 years of experience to develop their skills in a fast-paced, global financial services environment. You’ll play a key role in contract management, corporate governance, and regulatory support, contributing to the legal backbone of a dynamic financial business.

The brokerage is in an exciting phase of growth, with 13 offices across the globe and a headcount of 200, which is set to increase. This FS Paralegal role will work as part of a global legal team of three located across the UK, Dubai and the Seychelles.

The role:

Commercial contracts

• Draft, review, and negotiate commercial contracts, including NDAs, vendor agreements, trading contracts, and client terms.
• Maintain and update standard contract templates in line with local laws and Malaysian financial regulatory frameworks.
• Liaise with internal stakeholders and external parties to ensure timely contract execution and renewal.
• Identify and mitigate contractual risks while ensuring compliance with AML/CFT regulations and other legal standards.

Contract repository oversight

• Manage a recently implemented centralised digital contract repository, ensuring contracts are properly archived, accessible, and audit-ready.
• Maintain robust version control and conduct periodic audits for regulatory compliance.

Governance and company secretarial support

• Assist in preparing board resolutions, maintaining statutory registers, and handling filings with the Companies Commission of Malaysia (SSM) and other relevant bodies.
• Support corporate governance processes across multiple jurisdictions.

Legal research and regulatory support

• Conduct legal research on local regulatory updates, data protection laws, AML/CFT requirements, and other compliance matters relevant to the brokerage industry.
• Support audits and respond to regulatory inquiries, including those from Bank Negara Malaysia (BNM) and the Securities Commission Malaysia (SC).

Cross-functional collaboration

• Work closely with compliance, finance, and operations to ensure seamless business operations.
• Support the implementation of AML/CFT policies, particularly in contractual and governance matters.

About you:

• Law degree or equivalent international qualification.
• 1-3 years of legal, FS regulatory, or contract management experience (in-house or private practice).
• You will enjoy working with autonomy and be able to juggle both BAU responsibilities and project work.
• Strong knowledge of contract law and corporate governance.
• Familiarity with Malaysian financial services regulations, including BNM and SC guidelines.
• Strong attention to detail and excellent communication skills.
• Ability to manage multiple deadlines and work independently.
• Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
