Job summary
TMI Container Line Sdn Bhd is seeking a procurement professional to support freight forwarder and shipping operations in Malaysia. The role emphasizes handling rate inquiries, sourcing, and negotiating competitive freight charges.
You will maintain rate databases, monitor market trends, and build strong relationships with carriers and service providers to ensure cost-efficient logistics solutions.
Qualifications
- Experience in procurement, preferably in freight forwarder and shipping.
- Strong sourcing, negotiation and cost-comparison skills.
- Good knowledge of shipping and logistics, including shipping routes, Incoterms and industry terminology.
- Good written & communication skills in English and Bahasa Malaysia; Mandarin is an advantage.
- Detail-oriented, responsible, proactive and able to work independently.
Responsibilities
- Handle daily rate inquiries and prepare quotations.
- Source, evaluate and negotiate competitive freight and logistics rates with carriers, co-loaders, overseas agents and other service providers.
- Develop and maintain strong working relationships with shipping lines and other service providers.
- Maintain and regularly update the company's rate database.
- Monitor and analyse the latest market trends, freight-rate movements, surcharges and space availability.
