Job summary

Altera Corporation seeks a hands-on Silicon Validation Engineer in Penang, Malaysia, to lead bring-up and validation of high-speed analog I/O and PHY designs for DDR, LPDDR, and MIPI interfaces. You will develop scalable validation methods, automate test setups, and drive cross-functional debug from silicon to firmware and board levels.

Required are a BE/BSc/MSc in EE, hands-on post-silicon validation experience and strong scripting skills (Python/Perl/TCL/C/C++).

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical or Electronics Engineering.
• Experience in post-silicon validation or PHY design with high-speed interfaces (DDR/LPDDR, MIPI).
• Proficiency with lab equipment and scripting for validation automation.

Responsibilities

• Own end-to-end high-speed I/O and PHY validation across multiple silicon programs.
• Develop scalable validation methodologies, test setups, and automation frameworks.
• Execute post-silicon bring-up, characterization, and debug using advanced lab equipment.
• Influence board design on high-speed channel implementation, stack-up, routing, and I/O termination.
• Collaborate with firmware teams to develop test algorithms and validate calibration flows.
• Partner with circuit design teams to review architectures and drive design improvements.
• Lead root-cause analysis and cross-functional debug.

We are seeking a hands-on Silicon Validation Engineer to lead the bring-up and validation of high-speed analog I/O and PHY designs, including transmitters, receivers, clocking circuits, and voltage regulators for DDR, LPDDR, and MIPI interfaces.

Key Responsibilities

• Own end-to-end high-speed I/O and PHY validation across multiple silicon programs.
• Develop scalable validation methodologies, test setups, and automation frameworks.
• Execute post-silicon bring-up, characterization, and debug using advanced lab equipment.
• Influence board design on high-speed channel implementation, stack-up, routing, and I/O termination.
• Collaborate with firmware teams to develop test algorithms and validate calibration flows.
• Partner with circuit design teams to review circuit architectures and drive design improvements based on silicon results.
• Lead root-cause analysis and cross-functional debug.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, or a related discipline.
• Industry experience in post‑silicon validation, silicon bring‑up, or PHY design.
• Hands‑on expertise with validating high‑speed interfaces and PHYs such as DDR/LPDDR, MIPI and GPIO.
• Strong understanding of high‑speed signal integrity, power integrity, timing, and analog/mixed‑signal behaviors.
• Proficiency with lab equipment, including oscilloscopes, BERTs, protocol analyzers, logic analyzers, and pattern generators.
• Experience in post-silicon debug and issue resolution across silicon, package, board, firmware, and software domains.
• Proficiency in scripting or programming (e.g., Python, Perl, TCL, C/C++) for validation automation and data analysis.
