Job summary

Keysight Technologies Malaysia Sdn. Bhd. is seeking a student intern in Penang to contribute to hands-on hardware and software projects in test and measurement. You will develop PoC solutions for high-speed interfaces, evaluate data transfer architectures, and collaborate with a multi-disciplinary engineering team.

Candidates should be pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's in Electrical or Computer Engineering, with knowledge of VHDL/Verilog and FPGA tools, plus strong problem-solving and teamwork.

Qualifications

• Pursuing Bachelor’s or Master’s in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering.
• Proficiency in VHDL or Verilog; SystemVerilog is a plus.
• Familiar with FPGA architectures, timing analysis and synthesis flows.
• Experience with FPGA tools: Xilinx Vivado, Intel Quartus.
• Knowledge of UART, SPI, I2C, USB, PCIe or Ethernet interfaces.
• Strong problem-solving and teamwork skills.

Responsibilities

• Develop and evaluate PoC solutions involving high-speed interfaces and system integration for test applications.
• Design and validate data transfer architectures across embedded systems.
• Develop FPGA and embedded software components for interface bring-up and validation.
• Perform system integration, debugging, and characterization of HW/SW subsystems.
• Analyze throughput, latency, resource usage, and reliability of proposals.
• Document findings, prepare test reports, and present results to the team.

• Develop and evaluate proof-of-concept solutions involving high-speed communication interfaces, protocols, and system integration between FPGAs, processors, and peripheral devices for test and measurement applications.
• Design, implement, and validate data transfer architectures for movement of measurement and instrumentation data across embedded systems.
• Develop FPGA and embedded software components for interface bring-up, protocol validation, and performance optimization.
• Perform system integration, debugging, and characterization of hardware and software subsystems.
• Analyze throughput, latency, resource utilization, and reliability of proposed solutions.
• Document technical findings, prepare test reports, and present project results to the engineering team.

Qualifications

• Student pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
• Proficiency in hardware description languages such as VHDL or Verilog (SystemVerilog a plus).
• Understanding of FPGA architectures, digital design principles, timing analysis, and synthesis/place-and-route flows.
• Experience with FPGA development tools (e.g., Xilinx Vivado, Intel Quartus, or similar) and simulation/debugging techniques.
• Knowledge of communication protocols such as UART, SPI, I2C, USB, and high-speed interfaces (e.g., PCIe, Ethernet, or AXI).
• Experience or coursework in digital signal processing, data acquisition, and measurement techniques is a plus.
• Familiarity with embedded systems and interfacing FPGAs with microcontrollers or processors is desirable.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• Strong communication and teamwork abilities.
