JOB SUMMARY
- Responsible for budgetary control, cost analysis, process improvement, day-to-day custom clearance operations, etc.
- To manage the import and export of goods, complete necessary paperwork, and coordinate with various government agencies and customs authorities to ensure smooth and efficient customs clearance processes, minimise delays, and ensure compliance with customs laws.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Manage the import and export of goods: To be responsible for overseeing the entire process of importing and exporting goods, including preparing and submitting necessary documentation, such as customs declarations, invoices, and shipping documents.
- Ensure compliance with customs regulations: Must stay up-to-date with customs laws and regulations and ensure that all import and export activities adhere to these requirements and is responsible for classifying goods according to customs codes, determining duty rates, and ensuring appropriate licenses and permits are obtained.
- Liaise with government agencies and customs authorities: To act as intermediaries between importers/exporters and customs authorities. To communicate with customs officials, government agencies, and other relevant parties to resolve any issues, provide the necessary documentation, and ensure compliance with customs regulations.
- Provide customs advice and guidance: To offer guidance and advice to clients regarding customs regulations, procedures, and requirements and assist in interpreting complex customs laws and help clients navigate through customs processes efficiently.
- Coordinate with shipping and logistics teams: To collaborate with shipping and logistics teams to ensure timely and efficient transportation of goods. They provide necessary documentation to shipping agents, monitor shipment status, and facilitate customs clearance processes.
- Maintain records and documentation: To be responsible for maintaining accurate and organized records of import and export activities, to ensure that all required documentation, such as invoices, bills of lading, and customs declarations, are properly filed and archived.
- Stay updated with industry trends and regulations: Must continuously update their knowledge of customs laws, regulations, and industry practices and stay informed about changes in trade agreements, tariff rates, customs procedures, and other relevant information that may impact import and export activities.
- Provide excellent customer service: To interact with clients, importers, exporters, and various stakeholders involved in the customs clearance process, to provide prompt and professional customer service, addressing any concerns or queries and ensuring high client satisfaction.
- Errors and discrepancies :to investigate, adjust, and communicate with relevant authorities and report to management immediately;
- To maintain proper documentation and filing within the agreed time frame;
- To be involve in tendering and quotations preparations, solutions design to meet customer requirements;
- To ensure that end-of-day tasks, closing reports, and filing or paperwork/documentation are processed accurately;
- To prepare necessary reports as per the established time frame.
- Handle new tasks or additional responsibility as and when required by the management Execution and enforcement of HR ISO 9001 policies and participate in audits;
- Any other job as assigned from time to time.
REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelor's Degree/Diploma with at least 6 years’ experience in handling import-export operations and customs clearance in courier/ logistics companies.
- Automotive customs clearance experience is an added advantage.
- Knowledgeable about customs procedures, tariffs, duties, regulations, etc and Import/Export documentation and declaration of K1, K2,K3, K4, K8, K9.
- Familiar with customs HS codes, duty tax computation/exemption
- Must possess a KEK licence
- Good networking with port customs, external freight forwarders and customs brokers.
- Possess a friendly disposition with good communication and problem solving skills.
- Proficiency in Mandarin(written & spoken), English and Bahasa Malaysia languages
Salary: RM8,000 – RM12,000, to commensurate with experience.
