About the role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Forwarding Manager with strong background in customs declaration and regulatory compliance to join our dynamic team at SINOTRANS LOGISTICS (M) SDN BHD in Setia Alam, Selangor. This role is responsible for overseeing the custom declaration process and ensuring the smooth and efficient movement of freight and cargo for our clients.

What you'll be doing

Manage the entire customs declaration process, including preparing and submitting necessary documentation, classifying goods according to customs codes, determining duty rates, and ensuring appropriate licenses and permits are obtained.

Lead and supervise the customs declaration team, ensuring timely and accurate submission of all required documentation

Provide leadership in resolving customs-related issues or disputes promptly to prevent shipment delays

Liaise with customs authorities and other relevant government agencies to ensure compliance with all local and international customs regulations, tariffs, and trade agreements

Maintain effective communication with customs authorities, freight forwarders, and relevant government bodies (e.g., MITI, MAQIS, SIRIM)

Familiarize with declaration system and custom regulations in Automotive Industry and stay updated with industry trends and regulations

Analyse and interpret customs regulations, policies, and procedures to identify potential issues and implement effective solutions

Collaborate with the logistics team to ensure the seamless integration of customs clearance with the overall freight forwarding operations

Monitor and report on the performance of the customs declaration process, identifying areas for improvement

Implement best practices and SOPs for customs operations and documentation control.

Excellent problem-solving and decision-making skills, with the ability to navigate complex regulatory environments

Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively liaise with customs authorities, clients, and internal stakeholders

Proficient in Mandarin, English and Bahasa Malaysia (to liaise with Mandarin-speaking clients and partners.)

Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with a focus on delivering high-quality results
