Job description

We are currently looking for a Liquid Formulation Scientist to join a well-regarded pharmaceutical manufacturing company known for its quality generics and specialty medications across Southeast Asia. This position offers the opportunity to lead and support the formulation development of oral and external liquid dosage forms, playing a key role in bringing new and improved products to market. As the Formulation Scientist, you will be part of the Research & Development team and will focus on formulation design, process optimization, and technology transfer to manufacturing.

Reporting to: Head of Formulation

Team size: 20 - 30 people

Work Mode: Office-based with hands-on formulation and lab work

Culture: Seeking a hands-on scientist who is detail-oriented, methodical, and passionate about pharmaceutical innovation.

The Role:

• Design and develop formulations for liquid dosage forms (oral solutions/suspensions and topical liquids).
• Plan and execute formulation trials including pre-formulation studies, excipient compatibility, and stability screening.
• Prepare product development reports, formulation records, and documentation to support regulatory filings.
• Work closely with Analytical, QA, Regulatory, and Production teams to ensure smooth scale-up and technology transfer.
• Conduct stability studies and troubleshoot issues related to formulation and process performance.
• Stay up-to-date with scientific literature, excipient innovations, and formulation trends in liquid dosage forms.
• Ensure full compliance with cGMP and regulatory standards throughout the development process.

The Experience:

• Master's Degree or PhD in Pharmacy, Pharmaceutical Sciences, or a related field.
• Ideally with 7-10 years of experience in pharmaceutical formulation, with a focus on oral or topical liquids.
• Strong understanding of pharmaceutical excipients, solubility enhancement, preservatives, viscosity modifiers, and emulsifying agents.
• Hands-on experience in pilot-scale batch preparation, product optimization, and stability studies.
• Familiarity with QbD approaches, process validation, and regulatory submission requirements.
• Detail-oriented with good documentation and communication skills.
• Team player with a solution-driven mindset and ability to work in a cross-functional environment.
