Objectives of the Position
- Deliver Financial Reporting services to BSSCKL's customers in accordance with established Financial Reporting processes and work procedures, complying with BASF policies & guidelines, internal control requirements, and local legal and statutory requirements.
- Ensure that timelines and quality meet the agreed service levels and targets.
- Assist with and perform Financial Reporting tasks as required.
Main Tasks
Functional Tasks (including but not limited to):
- Provide Financial Reporting transaction processing support, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and timeliness daily.
- Perform and analyze booking of accounting transactions, fixed asset transactions, master data maintenance, and account reconciliation, including account clearing.
- Conduct analytical reviews of profit and loss accounts and balance sheets, trend analysis, and transaction posting checks.
- Prepare and coordinate month-end, quarter-end, year-end, and statutory financial reports for BASF companies across Asia Pacific, ensuring timeliness and accuracy. This includes group reporting, management reporting, statutory reporting, and ad hoc reports like audit and tax schedules.
- Troubleshoot and liaise with relevant stakeholders to resolve issues related to Financial Reporting processes.
- Participate in working groups with specific expertise.
- Perform backup duties and other responsibilities as delegated.
Compliance and Quality
- Participate in compliance audits and respond to queries.
- Ensure all work documentation and processes are updated in line with BASF policies, Financial Reporting compliance, and legal requirements.
Continuous Improvement and Projects
- Identify and implement solutions for continuous improvement.
- Support project initiatives such as technology upgrades, internal controls, mergers, and acquisitions.
Knowledge Management
- Contribute to maintaining comprehensive training materials for Financial Reporting.
- Participate in training sessions.
- Update knowledge databases and procedures to facilitate continuous learning and development.
- Support new team members through knowledge transfer and sharing best practices.
Stakeholder Collaboration
- Collaborate with BASF counterparts, auditors, consultants, and cross-functional units.
- Coordinate with the Corporate Finance and Global Financial Reporting units.
Supervision Level
- Work is regularly supervised.
Requirements
Education:
- University degree in finance, accounting, or business studies; or Chartered/Certified Accountant qualification.
Experience:
- Minimum 3 years in Financial Reporting or related accounting roles; candidates with less experience may be considered.
- Preferably experience with SAP or other ERP systems.
- Experience in shared services or BPO is an advantage.
- Experience in MNCs or listed companies in Malaysia is preferred.
Knowledge:
- Understanding of Financial Reporting and accounting functions.
- Proficiency in MS Office.
- Good communication skills in English and other languages.
