Objectives of the Position
  1. Deliver Financial Reporting services to BSSCKL‘s customers in accordance with established Financial Reporting processes and work procedures, ensuring compliance with BASF policies, guidelines, internal control requirements, and local legal and statutory requirements.
  2. Ensure that timelines and quality meet the agreed service levels and targets.
  3. Assist with and perform Financial Reporting tasks as required, including backup support.
Main Tasks
Functional Tasks (including but not limited to):
  1. Provide Financial Reporting transaction processing support, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and timeliness.
  2. Perform and analyze bookings of accounting transactions, fixed asset transactions, master data maintenance, and account reconciliation, including clearing.
  3. Conduct analytical reviews of profit and loss accounts and balance sheets, trend analysis, and transaction posting checks.
  4. Prepare and coordinate month-end, quarter-end, year-end, and statutory financial reports for BASF companies across Asia Pacific, including group reporting, internal management reporting, statutory reporting, and ad hoc reports.
  5. Troubleshoot and liaise with relevant stakeholders to resolve issues related to Financial Reporting processes.
  6. Participate in working groups with specific expertise.
  7. Perform backup duties and other responsibilities as delegated.
Compliance and Quality
  1. Participate in compliance audits and respond to audit queries.
  2. Ensure all work documentation and processes are updated in accordance with BASF policies, Financial Reporting compliance, and local legal requirements.
Continuous Improvement and Projects
  1. Identify and implement solutions for continuous improvement.
  2. Support project initiatives such as technology enhancements, internal controls, mergers, and acquisitions.
Knowledge Management
  1. Contribute to maintaining comprehensive training materials for Financial Reporting.
  2. Participate in training sessions and update knowledge databases.
  3. Support knowledge transfer and sharing among team members.
Stakeholder Collaboration
  1. Collaborate with counterparts in BASF companies, auditors, consultants, and cross-functional units.
  2. Engage with the Corporate Finance unit and global Financial Reporting units.
Supervision
  • Work is regularly supervised.
Requirements
Education
  • University degree in finance, accounting, or business studies; and/or
  • Chartered or Certified Professional Accountant or equivalent.
Experience
  • Minimum 3 years in Financial Reporting or related accounting functions; candidates with less experience may be considered.
  • Experience with SAP or other major ERP systems.
  • Experience in shared service or BPO is advantageous.
  • Experience in an MNC or listed company in Malaysia preferred.
Technical & Professional Skills
  • Knowledge of Financial Reporting and accounting functions.
  • Proficiency in MS Office tools.
  • Good communication skills in English and other languages as required.
